Ruddock derides Murrayfield jinx
Wales have endured some bruising times at Murrayfield
Coach Mike Ruddock says Wales' dreadful record at Murrayfield will have no impact on Sunday's game with Scotland.

"We're aware of the Murrayfield factor and some of the disasters of the past," said Ruddock, whose country have won just once at the ground since 1987.

"I think it's nonsense, it's all about the opposition not the ground.

"Wales put in a huge effort to win in France and after that I can't see them dropping their standards or will to win. I want to see the boys confident."

Ruddock does feel that the Scots will offer a significant challenge up front and that their win over Italy could potentially transform the team.

"Scotland had looked like Wales teams of the past in that they lacked the confidence to get going, but now they've beaten Italy who knows what will happen?" Ruddock told BBC Sport Wales.

I believe we have the ability to break them down and get the win if our mind set is right

"They didn't win a single Championship game last season, but that victory - like ours over England - can spark a bit of confidence.

"They're not the biggest physically up front, but technically they're very good and that will be a real battle.

"Their backs are not playing with confidence, but if the weather is good the win over Italy will leave them feeling more liberated and I know all about the quality of Matt Williams' coaching."

Despite his words of encouragement for Scotland, Ruddock is confident that his side have done their homework and that they have the ability to break Wales' Murrayfield hoodoo.

"We've had a really good look at them and have done our analysis," he said.

"[Ospreys assistant coach] Sean Holley has had the duty of tracking Scotland throughout the autumn internationals and the Six Nations, and he made a good presentation to add to our work.

"I believe we have the ability to break them down and get the win if our mind set is right."
