Former Haven player Gregg McNally was in the side |
Whitehaven were narrowly beaten 24-22 in Sunday's pre-season friendly with Super League side Huddersfield at the Recreation Ground. The Challenge Cup finalists fielded a young side but were just too strong for Haven as two late tries consigned Ged Stokes' side to defeat. "We tried to win the game twice," Haven boss Stokes told BBC Radio Cumbria. "We could have had the game won. "We didn't have to do anything but hold onto the ball. Maybe it was a lesson." Haven ran in four tries through Ryan McDonald, Carl Rudd, Leroy Joe and Carl Sice, three of them which were improved by Rudd.
