Jenson Button has revealed the secret to his harmonious relationship with McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton: they don't see each other socially away from the race track. "We don't spend any time together," said Button. "It is the easiest way really. We get on, but we still want to beat each other and that is always going to be the way. We are very competitive people."

Button's thrilling last-lap victory in the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday gave the BBC its second best television audience since the sport returned to the broadcaster in 2009. The average audience for the race on BBC One peaked at 8.3m, just below the record of 8.9m for the Brazilian GP in 2009. The coverage of the race climax on BBC Two between 2100 and 2200 BST peaked at 6.1m.

Ferrari has extended its sponsorship deal with tobacco company Philip Morris through to the end of 2015. Although the team is banned from displaying the Marlboro logo on its cars, it races under the official title of Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro.

Rebecca Ferguson, the X Factor runner-up, will headline this year's Grand Prix Ball ahead of the British Grand Prix. The Liverpool-born singer will join Eddie Jordan and a selection of Grand Prix cars past and present in the event taking place on 7 July at the Hurlingham Club in London.
