Alonso's title hopes are fading fast after he crashed out in Montreal

Fernando Alonso says the Formula 1 title race is out of his hands after a disastrous Canadian Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver retired following a collision with Jenson Button and is 92 points behind overall leader Sebastian Vettel. "The championship is not finished yet, but we must now hope for errors from others to have some hope," said Alonso.

Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi has bemoaned his team's lack of speed in dry conditions. After a strong display in the rain, the Japanese driver was second when the Canadian Grand Prix was stopped for two hours but, following the restart, he was unable to sustain his pace as the track became drier and ended up finishing seventh.

Hamilton and Jenson Button are a team, but not mates. Hamilton was derailed in Canada by his supposed ally in a moment which had McLaren employees contemplating two pieces of wreckage: that of Hamilton's suspension and perhaps their dream partnership, too.
