Lewes boss Kevin Keehan has confirmed the club has signed 31-year-old defender Danny Cullip on a free transfer from Gillingham.

Cullip has agreed a two-year contract with the Blue Square Premier new boys after refusing a new deal at the Priestfield Stadium.

Keehan said: "I am really pleased to have signed Danny.

"I have two more quality signings I hope to make and then we will be ready for the coming season."

Cullip joined Brighton from Brentford in 1999, and also played at Fulham under Micky Adams where he scored the goal to clinch the Third Division title in 2001.

Cullip skippered Albion as they won the Division Two title in 2002, and was captain of the side which gained promotion to the Championship in 2004 via the play-offs.

Later that year Cullip left Albion to join Sheffield United and made significant moves to Nottingham Forest, QPR and Gillingham.
