A Robbie Doyle goal four minutes from the end stopped Derry City from topping the Eircom Premier Division. The Candystripes were leading 2-1 when the St Patrick's forward pounced to grab the late equaliser.
The Dubliners had taken an early lead when defender Keith Fahey converted a 26th minute penalty.
However, Derry stormed back in the second half with two goals in four minutes with Alan Murphy (61) and Mark Farren (65) on target.
Victory would have seen Stephen Kenny's side leapfrogging over Shelbourne to top the Premier Division.
