Derry opt for Friday home games
Derry City boss Stephen Kenny
Stephen Kenny's Derry side start their season on 18 March
Derry City chairman Hugh McDaid has confirmed that the club's home games in the coming season will be played on Friday evenings.

The club experimented with Saturday night homes games at the start of last season before changing to Thursdays.

However, the club are now hoping that a switch to Fridays will lead to increased attendances.

The Eircom League's TV deal this season means most matches will be played on Friday evenings during the campaign.

Derry open their campaign with an away game against Drogheda on 18 March.

Helped by a new TV deal which will see more than 30 domestic soccer games televised each year, the FAI has announced a 400 per cent increase in prize money for this season's Eircom Laegue.

The prize fund this year will be 400,000 Euro up from 98,000 in 2004.
