Mirra Andreeva may not have been the favourite against Marta Kostyuk, but she will be in the final - regardless of who wins the next semi-final.
She's ranked 15 places higher than Diana Shnaider, and has won her two previous matches against her compatriot, while she is 106 places higher than Maja Chwalinska.

Today might help Mirra Andreeva in the sense she wasn't the favourite, but she handled it so well. It was still the biggest match in her career in so many ways. That will stand her in good stead.

How proud must Conchita Martinez be of Mirra Andreeva?
The Spaniard, who has been Andreeva's coach since 2024, reached the Roland Garros final in 2000 and now the Russian teenager is following in her footsteps.

Mirra Andreeva, speaking on Court Philippe-Chatrier after beating Marta Kostyuk: "I am still very, very nervous. I was nervous coming into this match. Obviously, she [Marta Kostyuk] has had an amazing season.
"Until this match, she has not lost a match on clay. She is an amazing player and a very tough opponent, and I am just super happy with the way I played today.
"As well, I am happy that I am in my first ever Grand Slam final. All of these feelings combined, it is amazing - I have never felt anything like this before."
"First of all, the conditions were very tough today. It was windy. I couldn't understand the direction the wind was going in.
"I am just happy I was able to stay focused. I told myself to accept everything that happens on the court. I just told myself no matter what happens, I am going to fight and give my best. With this kind of mindset, I ended up winning the match."
On her coach, Conchita Martinez: "I don't think I am going to ask any questions. It was working pretty well what we did before. We have to keep it the same and not change anything.
"We are going to prepare our best for the final. The final is going to be very entertaining and very tough. I am nervous, but at the same time I am very, very excited."

On Ukrainian athletes not shaking hands with Russian athletes...
Marta Kostyuk owns the platform. All the Ukrainian players have made that decision not to handshake, and they're trying to bring attention to what is happening in their homeland.
It is so difficult for us to be in their shoes and see what they're experiencing. I don't want to be too harsh on Mirra Andreeva as she is a young girl. This is a young girl who is so focused on her tennis career.

Full credit to Mirra Andreeva - what a performance from the teenager!
The Russian eighth seed flings her racquet to the clay and finally receives rapture from the Chatrier crowd.
It goes without saying there is no handshake between the pair - due to the stance taken by Ukrainian players since Russia's invasion in 2022.
Andreeva does say some kind words about Kostyuk in her post-victory speech, however.

Mirra Andreeva becomes the fourth-youngest women to reach the French Open final in the past 30 years, after Martina Hingis, Kim Clijsters and Coco Gauff.
She is also the first player - man or woman - born since 2005 to reach a major final.
What a performance, and what an achievement!

Mirra Andreeva raises her hands in the air as Marta Kostyuk misses on the first match point.
It was a near-faultless performance by the 19-year-old, while Kostyuk could not quite hit the heights she reached in getting to this stage.

A composed game by Mirra Andreeva. A very expensive mistake by Marta Kostyuk has helped bring Andreeva to serve for the match.

Kostyuk coming underneath the ball created so much spin. Now Mirra Andreeva is breathing hard.
Incredible game by Kostyuk. With that roof closing the conditions are going to change.

Can Marta Kostyuk build a bit of momentum here and consolidate that breakthrough?
She celebrates winning an important third point at 15-30, but again there is that lack of patience.
She fires a huge forehand narrowly wide. Two break points.

"Marta! Marta! Marta!" chant the Chatrier crowd.
Let's see how Andreeva copes with the ever-increasing support for the Ukrainian. Until that last game, it had been a very mature performance from the Russian.
Teenage tantrums by Andreeva have often been seen on the court and some of her behaviour - notably swiping away balls towards the crowd - has come close to crossing the line.
The way she combusted against home wildcard Lois Boisson in a febrile French Open quarter-final last year was another reminder of her tender years.

Three unforced errors from the Russian in that game.
The roof has closed, and there's a slightly different feel to this...

Hello!
The crowd are getting a bit excited now.
Marta Kostyuk shows a bit of patience - something she has lacked so far today - and comes out on top in a 26-shot rally which progressed from baseline exchanges to a slice showdown at the net for 0-30.
Double fault! Three break points...
