The backhand shot hasn't clicked for Arthur Fery today and he sends another one long to give Lorenzo Musetti the opening point of his service game.

Musetti tries to give Fery a taste of his own medicine with a drop shot, but it's not quite deft enough to fool the Briton, who speeds across court and pins a down-the-line winner.

The Italian nets the next point and now he'll try to serve out for a two-set lead.

Arthur Fery throws his arms up in frustration as another forehand fizzes into the net.

And there's the opportunity gone as he shanks the ball long and gifts Musetti the hold.

How costly will those missed chance be?

Lorenzo Musetti isn't going to hand it over easily. The Italian makes his way to the net and pelts down a winner. Back to deuce.

The one-handed backhand comes to the rescue for Lorenzo Musetti on the first break point, with a piercing winner down the line.

And Arthur Fery can't make the most of the next one, firing a return wide.

But he'll get another chance, pulling out the drop shot to catch Musetti off-guard. Third time lucky?

I think for Fery, it's just the indecision at this stage. He's just trying to work out 'can I stand closer to the baseline and take the ball on the rise or should I be going back deeper?'

If he does go too far behind the baseline, that more or less takes away his opportunity to attack.

Arthur Fery can be so effective when he comes to the net. There's the perfect example as he quickly swipes away a couple of forehands and wrongfoots Lorenzo Musetti.

But then it all goes pear-shaped. A forehand into the net and it's break point Musetti.

A misjudgement there from Arthur Fery as he lets a Lorenzo Musetti forehand pass him by and then turns to watch it land well within the court.

The Italian goes for the spectacular on the next point, trying to round the net post after Fery sends him out wide, but he can't quite get the bend on it to take it inside. 15-15.

    *Fery 3-6 2-3 Musetti

Ahhh. Unlucky, Arthur. The British number one delights the crowd with the 'tweener' but Lorenzo Musetti is waiting at the net to swat it away for a 40-0 lead.

Fery takes total control of the next point - only to sink a simple backhand into the net. It's those sort of unforced errors that are costing him big time here.
