  1. England face Samoa showdownpublished at 12:25 BST

    Right that's your lot.

You can read all about humbling England's 78-0 defeat to Australia here.

But it's not all doom and gloom for Stuart Barrow's side. They must lift themselves quickly for a showdown with Samoa in Wollongong that will determine whether they reach the last four for the fifth time.

We will be back for that on Friday, 30 October for a 06:45 kick-off. See you then.

Australia captain Isabelle Kelly, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra: "I think from our whole squad from one through to 23, every time someone steps out on the field, they do their job really well. And that comes from our coaching staff being relentless in the way that they trains, and then us picking up those one per cents to do better.

"Last week we definitely weren't at our best, and we had a goal this week to make sure we got back what we know we can do."

The most pleasing thing for Australia head coach Jess Skinner will be that they maintained the zero. They were very, very dominant. A lot of frustration crept in from England.

Had Anna Davies been able to ground that effort in the corner early on, you do have to wonder whether England might have settled down and at least made more a match of this.

They made the worst possible start with Lucy Murray concdeding a penalty from the kick-off and Jenna Foubister then kicking straight to touch after Australia's first try but that might, have at least given them a lift and also the ball back.

I don't think England managed to come within five metres of Australia's line more than four times. The Aussie girls were quite simply relentless.

    Malcolm, Sydney

13 games played at the tournament so far, (men’s and women’s) Only 2 have been competitive. The other 11, one sided blow outs.

    Matt

Embarrassing for RL is this, England thought they were so good after thrashing Wales this is a different level Australia have scored more than a point a minute.

The penalty count wasn't far off the scorebaord in terms of tries against England.

And understandably they were way behind in almost every metric that you can think of.

While Australia made 19 line breaks, England managed one. Australia missed eight tackles. England missed 47.

I could go on. Basically they just appeared in a cycle of doom that they could not escape from.

Head coach Stuart Barrow had talked about there being excitement and not trepidation prior to this match.

But it is very much back to the drawing board for England, who as good as Australia were, definitely underperformed.

This stopped being a contest after the anthems. Same as all of Australia's games at this World Cup. Gotta feel for Wales a bit for next weekend it could easily end in triple digits.

Tiana Penitani Gray loses out to Amelia Brown, who strips her of the ball. Can England finish with a flourish?

No. Isabel Rowe's pass is wayward and flies out of play on the right wing.

TRY - Australia 78-0 Englandpublished at 68 mins

    Shaylee Bent

England look shattered and Tarryn Aitken's disguised pass sets Sarah Togatuki away.

The Jillaroos have numbers in support and Shaylee Bent crosses in the corner.

If you're going to allow Tamika Upton to run, free rein, ball in hand, she's going to engage a defender and she's going to create space on her outside. She had two Jillaroos outside her and it was a three on one. And Isabelle Kelly was the closets.

Fran Goldthorp is down and looks hurt. It would be a huge blow for England if this is serious.

Women's rugby league makes rugby union look super competitive. What's the point in a World Cup where only one country takes it seriously and the rules follow their league? It shocks me that other countries bother turning up.

Another error from Lucy Murray, who is playing instead of the injured Jasmin Strange. And Australia are back on the attack.

But Amelia Brown comes up with a big tackle on Abbi Church on the wing.

  20. 'Penitani Gray has owned that right centre position'published at 11:38 BST

I'm glad Tiana Penitani Gray scored this try because she's set up a couple of absolute pearlers. She's been move to this right centre position with that injury to Julia Robinson, and she's just owned it.
