"The conditions are shocking, they should call it. The high jump is dangerous.

"We've just seen Morgan Lake attempt a jump but that was not the usual Morgan Lake. If I was her, she has so much experience, that I would be going up to the officials and saying, sorry but this is not safe.

"It's fine sprinting in a straight line but when you're curving and then having to take off on this absolutely slippy surface, it's really dangerous.

"I wouldn't be surprised if she [Lake] doesn't get another attempt."

A slow start but an impressive finish from England's Amy Hunt as she surges through to take the win in a time of 11.02 seconds.

Jamaica's Jonielle Smith and Zoe Hobbs of New Zealand in the lanes either side looked to be getting away from her early but Hunt timed it perfectly, driving past the pair of them.

Hobbs was second in 11.04 to qualify automatically but Smith (11.07) advances as well as one of the fastest losers.

Smith's compatriot Jodean Williams (11.13) gets the second non-automatic spot.

She takes the victory in semi-final two in a time of 11.13. Slower than the first semi but Lansiquot and Sade McCreath (11.19) were well clear of the field so didn't have to push it.

They will both fancy their chances of getting on to the podium later.
