After the first two subdivisions Malta's 130.750 leads the way in the team event, but with eight nations yet to compete, don't expect that score to trouble the podium when all is said and done this evening.

Scotland, Wales, India and Singapore are about to start their quest to top that score.

England, Canada, Australia and South Africa are waiting in the wings to discover what they need to do this evening.

The women's event looks a lot different to the men's, with four apparatus used instead of six.

Gymnasts will rotate between the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor.

The best two scores from each nation will contribute to their team total while the best eight individual performances across the day will secure qualification for next week's individual apparatus finals.

Malta set a relatively low bar of 130.750 in the opening subdivision, but Scotland and Wales will seek to surpass that later this afternoon and sit top of the pile before the four highest seeds take to the stage this evening.

If it's anything like last night drama is guaranteed.

It's the day after the night before and the second set of gymnastics medals are up for grabs in Glasgow this evening.

Canada's men ended a 20-year wait for gold last night, ending England's three-Games reign as the defending champions had to settle for silver after an event overshadowed to a sickening fall from Gabriel Langton on the high bar.

Scotland narrowly missed out on bronze to Australia while Wales finished sixth.

The home nations are back in action in, ooh, about 10 minutes or so with Scotland and Wales competing in subdivision three of the women's team event alongside India and Singapore.

England will line-up with Australia, Canada and South Africa in the final subdivision, which is due to begin just before 18:30 BST.

England captain Fran Williams, speaking to TNT Sports: "Definitely some jitters at the start but so good to get that out of the way.

"It gives us huge confidence. We know tomorrow [against Australia] is going to be a huge step up for us.”

Northern Ireland captain Michelle Magee, speaking to TNT Sports: "Good in patches. We'll take that we need to settle quicker. Hopefully that is the nerves out of the way.

"We had a good second quarter and thought we were closing the gaps. There was some good stuff but you can't stay in those lulls for so long."

Another interception from Jayda Pechova, she's been excellent today, to set England on their way to one more goal before the buzzer.

A comfortable win for the Roses with Eleanor Cardwell top-scoring with 35 from 37 shots.
