    Athletics is one of the most accessible sports as all you need is a large open space to throw, run or jump. It is suitable for all ages and abilities. Some of the categories in athletic sport include sprinting, long-distance running, throwing events, jumping and heptathlon and decathlon.

    Britain's fastest woman Dina Asher-Smith is in 100m and 200m sprint action while Olympic bronze medallist Holly Bradshaw will be aiming for an 11th British outdoor title in the pole vault.

    European indoor champion Jazmin Sawyers will take part in the women’s long jump while Ben Williams participates in the men’s triple jump.

    Morgan Lake and Laura Zialor will go head to head in the women’s high jump while Amy-Eloise Markovc races in the 5000m and Nicole Yeargin in the 400m.

    The UK Athletics Championships is an annual national competition in track and field. This year, more than 800 athletes are set to gather at the Manchester Regional Arena Track on 8 to 9 July. Not only will they compete for a UK Championship title but for a place in the GB and NI team for the World Championships later in the summer.
