  2. McInnes hints at imminent Rangers arrivals published at 08:39 BST

Rangers manager Derek McInnesImage source, SNS

Manager Derek McInnes has suggested Rangers could complete more signings before Wednesday's friendly meeting with St-Etienne at Ibrox on Wednesday.

Rangers, third in last season's Scottish Premiership, have already brought in six new recruits, with Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin following McInnes from Tynecastle to Ibrox.

"The club has done brilliant work at this moment in time to try and bring in the additions that we clearly needed," McInnes said in a club media interview from the club's Spanish training camp.

"We want to make sure we are a more rounded squad when it comes to the bit that we're ready, but the work will be ongoing. We're still looking to try and get a couple of things done ahead of the St-Etienne game.

"We're two weeks away from Dundee United [opening day of the league campaign], and I feel that the fitness of the players is a lot better and stronger to where we want it to be, from when we set off a couple of weeks ago."

Rangers ended their camp with a 2-2 draw against Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim, with McInnes calling it "a good test against a team who are well up and running in their season".

Devlin, Ivor Pandur and Thelo Aasgaard will join training on Monday after their involvement at the World Cup and McInnes welcomes the "jag of quality" the trio will bring.

McInnes, who steered Hearts to second place last term, also stressed the importance of team building in the early days of his reign.

"I want us to be more together as a squad," he said. "What we have is a lot of good individuals and we saw signs of that last season - Rangers, at times, were really strong. Individually, players were at a good level, but when it came to it, we needed to be more of a team.

"I really want to build that work ethic, that togetherness that gets you through tough times."

Tochi Chukwuani scored twice as Rangers completed their training camp in Spain with a closed-door friendly draw against Johor Darul Ta'zim.

The Malaysian Super League champions scored twice early in the second half.

Chukwuani, a half-time replacement for Djeidi Gassama, then crashed in two shots to level.

Rangers continue their pre-season preparations against French side Saint-Etienne at Ibrox on Wednesday.

  4. Devlin 'doesn't get enough credit' - Shanklandpublished at 14:17 BST 16 July

Cammy Devlin (right) has been reunited with Lawrence Shankland at Rangers

Lawrence Shankland is convinced Cammy Devlin will flourish at Rangers and believes the midfielder "doesn't get enough credit".

The striker says he's "buzzing" to link up with his former Hearts team-mate and insists the Australian can excel at Ibrox.

Devlin was signed as a free agent after leaving Tynecastle earlier this summer, having played an integral role in the club's Scottish Premiership title push.

He has been lauded for his off-the-ball midfield work, but some Rangers fans have expressed doubts about his ability in possession.

However, Shankland feels Devlin does not get the praise he merits for his all-round game and is backing the 28-year-old to show what he can do for the Govan side.

"I'm buzzing for him - he's buzzing to be here as well. He's been talking to me about it since he signed, he's delighted," said Shankland.

"He'll bring energy. But he probably doesn't get enough credit for how good a player he actually is.

"Until his injury last year he was probably one of the best midfielders in the league. He was playing really at the top of his game.

"He'll look to rediscover that form as quickly as possible when he gets back into training.

"He retrieves the ball so well - he just wins it back for you and the team can progress from there.

"Last season when he was in form he added to his game. From when he started playing with Hearts to now, Cammy's a much better player than he was at the start."

  7. Curtis targets 'showcasing my talent' in Europe with Rangerspublished at 10:02 BST 14 July

Rangers winger Findlay Curtis heads to Spain with RangersImage source, SNS

Findlay Curtis wants to "showcase my talent in Europe on the biggest stage" for Rangers after living "every kid's dream" by playing for his country at the World Cup.

The 20-year-old winger became the youngest Scot to play at a World Cup finals when he came on a substitute in the victory over Haiti.

And he believes it was reward for pushing to be sent on loan to Kilmarnock.

"If you go and do really well, it will stand you in good stead and, even if you do bad, you get learning experiences," Curtis told Rangers TV after scoring the equaliser with a cross-come-shot in a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs at their pre-season training camp in Spain.

"It's been unbelievable between January and now, going to Killie and doing really well and I couldn't thank them enough for what they've down for me and that leading to the World Cup squad.

"It was quite daunting at the start coming away from a big club like this, but you have to relish it and need to be confident in yourself.

"It stood me in good stead and I can't wait to get going this season."

Curtis joked that Kilmarnock started winning as soon as he arrived as he helped Neil McCann's side steer clear of relegation trouble and thought the biggest improvement was on the "mental side" of his game.

After an "emotional" exit from Rugby Park, he is back at Ibrox and aiming for a starting place under new manager Derek McInnes.

"You can't really sit on the bench at this age," he said. "You need to go and showcase your talent and I want to do that in Europe on the biggest stage."

As for his World Cup experience, Curtis added: "It's obviously every kid's dream.

"It was some experience going over there to America and hopefully there's more to come.

"It's a shame the results didn't go our way, but we'll be back, definitely."

  9. Why Rangers great McGregor questioned coaching returnpublished at 10:49 BST 13 July

    Allan McGregorImage source, SNS

Allan McGregor questioned whether he could bring enough to Rangers when weighing up whether to return in a coaching capacity.

Despite being part of Barry Ferguson's interim backroom team at the end of the 2024-25 season, he had his doubts and was "shocked" when offered the chance to join Derek McInnes' staff.

The former Rangers goalkeeper never gave coaching a thought during his playing days, during which he became a legendary figure at Ibrox.

However, the ex-Scotland international took up the offer to return to his boyhood club, where he played 505 times, and is "buzzing" to be back as he aims to help restore standards.

"This [offer] took a bit more thought because it is a longer-term thing," he told Rangers TV.

"I thought about how it would look for the club with me not having my coaching badges and having to start them, and what I could bring here. It was really important to me.

"I had a little taste of it and it is different, but it's enjoyable. Once I am focused on something, I am all in."

There has been a notable change in the goalkeeping department this summer, with Rangers signing Ivor Pandur from Hull City before Jack Butland moved in the opposite direction.

Many expect Croatian Pandur to be Rangers' number one this coming season, but Liam Kelly remains at the club and will continue to provide competition.

"Ivor and Kels will be really pushing to be Rangers' number one and play in the first team," McGregor added.

"I never took it for granted. I never really thought of myself as the number one. I always thought there's competition and nothing is ever guaranteed, and you need to work every single day as hard as you possibly can."

The match was played behind closed doors in Spain and new recruits Ben Godfrey, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil and Lawrence Shankland all featured.

Having fallen behind to the South African side on 77 minutes, 20-year-old substitute Curtis levelled late in the game with a dipping shot.

  12. Devlin a 'great signing' but questions over Raskin futurepublished at 11:38 BST 12 July

    Your Opinions graphic

Rangers supporters' views on Cammy Devlin signing...

Norrie: He had a special relationship with the Hearts fans due to his overall journey with them. He will quickly realise the threshold is higher at Rangers.

Graham: What will he bring that we don't already have in Barron, Diamonde, Aasgard, Raskin, Neil et al? And rumours of more midfielders to come? We're either going to have a squad of like-for-like midfielders or this signals an exodus of many of the aforementioned players.

John: Bye bye Raskin - can't have Raskin and Devlin in same team, too similar. However, Rangers will make a healthy profit out of it and the team will not be diminished.

Craig: Not enamoured by the signing of Devlin, or any of the new players, with the exception of Shankland. Don't feel like he's an upgrade on anything we've got.

Angy: Great signing, looks like McInnes has a plan!

Jimmy: I thought he was one of Hearts' best players last season, if he can bring his A game to Rangers then I think he can be a really great addition to the squad, no silly bookings that will lead to sitting in the stand and I think Derek McInnes might just have made one of his best signings, so I'm happy with what's happening at Rangers, a good signing.

  14. What will Devlin bring to Rangers?published at 12:56 BST 11 July

    Nick McPheat
    BBC Sport Scotland

    Cammy DevlinImage source, SNS

Sections of the Rangers support have long called on the club to recruit the Scottish Premiership's best talent, and the Ibrox hierarchy appear to be acting on that this summer.

Both Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin were among Hearts' standout players as they came within minutes of a historic Scottish top-flight triumph.

The Ibrox club have signed both without needing to pay a transfer fee and have also plucked manager Derek McInnes from Tynecastle.

"Cammy is obviously a player I know, and I am well aware of what he will offer to Rangers," McInnes said.

"His levels of consistency for me were superb, and he is the type of player that every manager wants in his team."

Devlin made the most tackles per 90 minutes in the Premiership last season, and among midfielders he ranked second for interceptions, second for defensive contributions and third for recoveries.

Some Rangers fans have expressed concerns about his work on the ball while playing for a team that will dominate possession in most domestic games.

But there were only four Premiership midfielders who completed more accurate passes per 90 minutes than Devlin last season. One of those was Rangers' Nicolas Raskin.

"He is someone who knows the Scottish league, and nothing will surprise him with what lies ahead," manager McInnes added.

"I am looking forward to welcoming Cammy to Rangers and working with him again after he returns from his holiday."

    Have your say

Cammy Devlin, who has signed a two-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months at Rangers, is the third significant arrival at Ibrox from Hearts this summer.

The Australia midfielder says it is "an absolute honour and privilege" to join the Govan club on a free transfer after leaving Tynecastle.

Rangers say their recent £16m share issue has "been completed and was fully subscribed by a broad group of existing shareholders".

The club announced in March their intention to raise the sum of new capital to fund investment in the men's first team.

A shareholder meeting will take place on 10 August

"The club would like to thank everyone who participated for their continued support and investment in Rangers," the club said.

"Although Rangers is now a private company, the club remains committed to engaging with shareholders.

"The meeting will provide shareholders with the opportunity to hear directly from the club's ownership and leadership team, receive an update on the progress being made across the club and ask questions about our plans for the future."

  19. 'Natural' time for Rangers to sell Raskin - Hallidaypublished at 16:26 BST 9 July

Belgium midfielder Nicolas RaskinImage source, Getty Images

A move from Rangers for Belgium midfielder Nicolas Raskin would seem "natural" to former Ibrox player Andy Halliday.

Raskin, 25, has made 145 appearances and scored 13 goals since joining Rangers midway through the 2022-23 season.

At the World Cup, he has taken his tally of caps to 18.

"He's got all the attributes," Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"The negative about Nico Raskin is he tries to do too much. He tries to be part of the build-up, he tries to break into the box, he tries to cover for people when it's not really on.

"Rangers haven't done a good enough job at selling players when their value is highest. At this moment in time, off the back of the World Cup, Nico Raskin's value is extremely high.

"Rangers have already recruited in the middle of the pitch and by all accounts, there's rumoured to be a couple more.

"If you can recoup a hefty fee for Nico Raskin, which I think it looks almost inevitable at this moment in time, then I think it's just a natural thing and the best thing for all parties."

Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi scored 18 Rangers goals between them last term

Andy Halliday believes Rangers have the "perfect foils" for new striker Lawrence Shankland in Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi.

Chermiti and Naderi often partnered each other in attack last season, with Shankland set to join up with Rangers' squad soon after having represented Scotland at the World Cup.

"In Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi, I think it's two perfect foils for Lawrence Shankland," former Rangers midfielder Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"Two big athletic players with physical profiles who can do a bit more running than Lawrence Shankland probably can.

"And it allows Lawrence Shankland to stay in the penalty box and in between the goal frame where he's such a threat."
