Rangers are currently up to sixth in the Premiership table after that win over Aberdeen, with Hibs down to eighth, one point behind.

However, Dundee and St Mirren can go level with Celtic on points at the top with victory, while Motherwell could go second.

This will be a big test of Motherwell's reserves of energy and the depth of the squad off the back of two testing matches against Europa league runners-up Freiburg.

It's strong-looking side, however, with Martin Moorman and Tom Sparrow restored to the back-line, while Regan Charles-Cook comes back in to complete a dynamic front three with Tawanda Maswanhise and Ibrahim Said.

Dundee were very good at Celtic Park. In the wider areas they were very good.

They've had a good start to the season, they have strength in depth in their squad. They could be set up for a good season.

Hibs were left reeling by Gent's late winner in Thursday's Conference League play-off, but David Gray's side went into that game unbeaten in five outings and have won their latest three league games on the road.

Dundee, meanwhile, are looking to build on their derby win at Tannadice last time out and have won all three of their home games so far this season.

However, Hibs drew 3-3 on their last visit in February to end the season unbeaten against the Dark Blues - and having won their latest three meetings since a 4-1 defeat there in November 2024.

Rangers midfielder Cammy Devlin tells Sky Sports: "The disappointment during the week, it's been a tough start, so I think it was important to show a real togetherness and what a real Rangers team would look like.

"The fans were incredible, so for them to turn up and give us that extra bit of noise really helped us. That desperation to win was really on show today.

"It was a proper performance. We can be a lot better with the ball, but it was about winning and we've done that.

"Coming here it's never easy. It was one big moment, Shanks scores and we go home with three points."

Motherwell are still earning praise for their style of play under their new manager despite a Premier Sports Cup exit by part-time Stenhousemuir being followed by two heftly losses to Freiburg in Conference League qualifying.

St Mirren's own promising start to the season came to a shuddering halt with a 5-1 thrashing by Rangers at Ibrox last time out in the League Cup, but they have had a couple of weeks to get over that.

The Buddies also conceded five in the last time they hosted Well in February and the visitors are unbeaten in their latest four visits, but they did reverse the fortunes with a 4-1 win in last season's League Cup semi-final.

There could be some modern history on the line for St Mirren this afternoon as the Buddies seek to preserve their 100% league record, having won their opening two Premiership matches.

I don't think they've started a top-flight season with three straight wins in 94 years, stretching back to the 1932-33 campaign.

Debuts too for Calvin Ramsay and Nikolas Agrafiotis, while Killian Phillips and Marcus Fraser are out injured.

Hibs head coach David Gray tells BBC Scotland: "We certainly can't feel sorry for ourselves, we've got a real difficult game today.

"Since the game the other night, Owen Elding's still not available, Josh Campbell's still ill. Nicky Cadden picked up a bit of an issue in the warm-up so was actually unavailable the other night.

"From then, Adam Mayor and Warren O'Hara aren't available as well. This is what the squad's for. We know that. Nothing there that's too long, which is a positive to take from it. It gives a little bit of freshness in the team today with those three changes.

"We are playing well. This is a completely different challenge and test. Dundee have started really well. We know their threats, we know they're really dangerous and we'll have to be right at it."

Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson tells BBC Scotland: "Some fresh people coming into the starting XI and everyone is in a better place now than they were a couple of weeks ago. We're used to this now.

"Now all of our focus in the last couple of days has been on the Premiership. That's what we're really excited to have our focus on today.

"Two teams that want to play out. I think St Mirren are quite direct still, they like to run at the opponent and move forward fast whenever they get the chance. I'm pretty sure it will be exciting."

You're asking yourself again what is going on with recruitment?

If there's not been any bids for [Nicolas] Raskin, so get him in your team because he's the best midfielder by a country mile.

Rangers must have over 30 players, it's not sustainable. They need to get five, six, seven out at least before the window closes.

There are other areas of the team that need strengthened other than the forward areas.

I think they're still shy of someone who can connect the midfield and be creative.

St Mirren manager Craig McLeish is hopeful his new signings are showing the type of team he wants to have.

"It's hopefully showing everyone our ambitions with the recruitment and what we're trying to do on the pitch," he tells BBC Scotland.

"We're trying to improve all across the pitch. We're going to need the full group over these four games in 12 days.

"The message to the boys is that it's a good opportunity to go three for three. We have to give Motherwell the respect they're due, they're a really good side.

"I thought they were fantastic at times in their European games. They'll be coming here to try and win the game."

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "It's been a good week for us.

"We've got a lot of work ahead of us today against a very good Hibernian side - a side that, I think, have gone about their business in a very quiet manner.

"I'm a big fan of their manager, David Gray. I think he's done a wonderful job in there. He's put together a really good Hibernian side.

"That ability to make changes after you've won the previous game's something that I always want to improve on. We've made a slight tweak today and hopefully it's a positive one. We've gone with an attacking team.

"We still want to get a more experienced centre-back in and another attacking player, maybe potentially one off the side and then I think the squad will be complete."

Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson tells Sky Sports: "Key moments went against us.

"There was nothing in the game between the sides in the first half and I thought we responded really well in the second.

"I can't control decisions, I can't control what VAR sees, I can control how to defend better. I think in the first half we should have had a bit more composure in front of goal.

"You can't feel sorry for yourself, you have to go again."

Rangers striker Lawrence Shankland tells Sky Sports: "It's a great feeling, a huge three points off the back of a really tough midweek.

"We had to get over the disappointment pretty fast and had a really good feeling about today. A good performance. At times it's not pretty, but we got the three points - that's the most important thing.

"We said a few times we want to get better, but today was about winning. It's a tough place to come, the fans are really up for it, but I thought we dealt with it really well and got the win."

"It was a huge effort from everyone and we get the reward with three points. It's nothing more than we deserve. For the first time in a long time, a lot of Rangers supporters probably enjoyed the performance.

"When the chance comes along, it's a big moment for Lawrence and that's why we brought him here.

"Thursday was a really poor performance, we had to dig deep, so the players deserve credit for sorting their heads out.

"We need to enjoy the win, but we need to make it a habit."
