It was quite the deadline day for Everton.

As timelines go, turbulent doesn't really do justice to the final days of Everton's transfer window.

A £40m offer for academy prospect Harrison Armstrong was accepted and then rebuffed following a fan backlash. Four players left on deadline day, including the best player, Iliman Ndiaye, with only two brought in.

A £40m deal for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun collapsed spectacularly at the 11th hour.

The net result is that Everton will play until January with only 18 senior outfield players available.

Michael Carrick has stuck with the same Manchester United that performed so well, in the second half at least, against Ipswich last week.

That is hardly a surprise, nor that Mason Mount returns to the bench after recovering from the injury he sustained against PSG in the middle of what had been to that point an excellent pre-season campaign.

Maybe it is a slight surprise Shea Lacey has been left out and Joshua Zirkzee keeps his place on the bench.

Lacey seemed to have nudged ahead of Zirkzee in the United pecking order.

However, as United turned down Everton's deadline day request to sign Zirkzee on loan, Carrick has kept faith the the Netherlands international.

Man Utd put their opening game loss at Hull behind them last week with a 5-2 victory over Ipswich at Old Trafford.

Today is the second time Manchester United have played in this wonderful stadium, following their victory here last February, when Benjamin Sesko scored the winner.

United are looking at building their own ‘Wembley of the North’ not too far away from Old Trafford.

They are hoping to have it completed in time to be a host venue for the 2035 Women’s World Cup.

There is a lot of work to do before then.

Later this month, the consultation period over the wider Old Trafford regeneration project will close, before officials go away to make any tweaks needed to the plans outlined earlier this summer.

United are also putting the finishing touches to their plans. Will the ‘circus tent’ element stay, or will it be scaled back?

They also have to work out how much it will cost – and how they are going to pay for it, given their debt is already well over £1bn.

Chief executive Omar Berrada was asked about funding at last month's Fans Forum.

He didn’t give much away.

“We're keeping all options on the table when it comes to financing the stadium,” he said.

“We will only know the true cost once we have completed the design process – then we will look at our financing options.”

The stadium we are in today cost more than £750m. It is anticipated United’s will be in excess of £2bn.

If this game is a draw, Man City are the only team after three games to have a 100% win record.

I can see Arsenal doing a Tony Adams-esque 1-0 win. Their defence is that good. They're just so solid, they're more capable of suffering and going on to win this game.

I feel Chelsea are going to be very exciting this season, but I don't feel Emi Martinez is the answer to keeping clean sheets for Chelsea.

The last couple of seasons for Villa, he has not been the clean sheet keeper that he was before.

Tell you what, I'm excited for Arsenal v Chelsea at 16:30.
