Mercifully for Union Berlin, the first half comes to an end.

The home side have played some magnificent football and the visitors just do not know how to deal with that electric Bayern front four.

You'd have to imagine the theme of Mauro Lustrinelli's half-time team talk will revolve heavily around damage limitation.

They've already put the ball in the net a second time, thanks to a lovely chip over an onrushing Frederik Ronnow by Luis Diaz.

Meanwhile in Bayern's half, the crowd are brought to their feet by a trademark Manuel Neuer forray out of the penalty area, winning the ball near the centre circle before playing the ball forward.

There is just no way out for Union Berlin here.

Bayern have them penned into their own half and are looking to double their advantage.

They almost make it happen, as Jonathan Tah leaps to meet an inviting cross from Joshua Kimmich.

He angles a powerful header down towards the near post but is denied by a brilliant save from Frederik Ronnow in the Union goal, who gets a strong hand to keep the effort out.

Unsurprisingly, Bayern have started this game on the front foot and it's Michael Olise who gets the first strike at goal in the game.

The Frenchman cuts inside from the right as he makes his way to the edge of the penalty area, but opts to try to catch the goalkeeper off guard with a shot towards the near post rather than a whip into the far corner.

Meanwhile, Union Berlin make three changes from their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Schalke last Friday, as Josip Juranovic, Aljoscha Kemlein and Livan Burcu make way for Christopher Tremmel, Janik Haberer and Andras Schafer.

Union Berlin’s bad start to the new Bundesliga season got worse last Friday night, after losing 3-1 at home to newly promoted Schalke to remain winless after their opening three matches

They hosted Eintracht Frankfurt in their first match which ended in a 3-3 thriller but then travelled to Bayer Leverkusen where they were on the receiving end of a 4-0 defeat.

This is Union’s worst start to a Bundesliga season in their history, with no wins from their opening three games and their worst goal difference from these matches.

Union have been fairly safe in the Bundesliga since their promotion in 2019, having avoided a relegation play-off match in 2022/23 through goal difference. If they are to continue their stay in Germany’s topflight, they need to get a win and soon.

Bayern Munich have continued their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga, a run that goes back as far as 24th January where they lost 2-1 at home to Augsburg.

Their start to the new season has seen them dominate Stuttgart 5-1 on the opening day, followed by a frustrating goalless draw away at Schalke. Vincent Kompany's side returned to winning ways last week, with a 2-1 win away to a side playing their first ever season in the German top flight in Elversberg.

It wasn't plain sailing by any means for the German champions, as the Bundesliga newboys scored to level the game in the second half before Harry Kane did what he does best, scoring the winner to give Vincent Kompany's side all three points.

That being said, in their third season under Vincent Kompany, Bayern have already started to look dominant again.

They've held more possession than any other side in the league, an average of 67% across their opening three fixtures, and have had 63 shots - second only to Bayer Leverkusen.

They will expect to keep up this dominance on tonight and further extend their unbeaten run.
