    With more games coming up this season, we need to keep hold of players like Zirkzee. Like a lot of players he needs game time. That was very limited last season.

    I hope Radek Vitek is given a run in pre-season. As a Bristol City fan, he was phenomenal for us last season and as a minimum he is a great candidate to be Lammens' backup this season.

    Who would you say were the best of the youngsters for United today?

    The full backs, Jaydan Kamason and Harry Amass, were both excellent in attack after coming on at the break. Shea Lacey is clearly still raw, but showed some lovely touches and took his goal well.

    Let's see how many of the young guns get a chance against Atletico Madrid next weekend.

    After a slow start, Manchester United showed their superiority and the score line doesn't really flatter them.

    Joshua Zirkzee's goal, the second of the game, was the pick of the bunch. Well worth seeking out if you have not seen it.

    Manchester United dominated a poor Rosenborg side, with several youngsters and fringe players impressing. Michael Carrick will be pleased with that.

    Good move from Carrick not sending on JJ Gabriel yet. The media are screaming to play him, JJ is obviously hearing all the noise. Carrick will play him when he sees fit, not when the media ask for it. This will get respect from the player and fans

    This is excellent from Jaydan Kamason, for his second assist of the match. The right-back drives into the box along the byeline and cuts a low cross across goal.

    The ball takes a slight deflection, but left winger Ethan Williams adjusts his body and turns the ball home to add further gloss to a one-sided scoreline.

    Maybe Carrick is thinking to use JJ Gabriel against one of the bigger clubs coming up, see how he performs against them to give him an idea of how he'd do in normal season game and give him a better team to go on his record for his debut

    It's obviously hard to judge these young Manchester United players in a friendly game against limited opposition.

    Still, to be so dominant against senior opponents who are mid-season will be a major confidence boost if nothing else.

    Carrick may be a great manager, but he is stupid to not bring on JJ Gabriel. It is a pointless friendly, just give the kid a chance!

    Agree with Osman and Robert (re 18.06 BST). There is however a legitimate reason this summer with the relaying of the Old Trafford pitch.

    If you're an old fogey like me, you may remember Rosenborg regularly qualifying for the Champions League group stage in the 1990s and early 2000s as perennial Norwegian champions.

    This current side is a shadow of that team. They are being well beaten by a Man Utd side missing their biggest stars.
