  3. 'A day for us and the fans to be happy'published at 16:56 BST

    FT: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "The fans have seen us play two incredible teams in PSG and Manchester City and we've lost them both.

"Throughout the season, all these games with the all these games and the limited players available have hurt and cost us quite a lot of points.

"But today is definitively a day for the fans to be happy. That's what we will be."

On enjoying this win: "We are going to enjoy. My staff, my players and me. There is no difference between us and the fans, we would have loved to have had a better season than we've had.

"But for obvious reasons we haven't, and we saw that today. How many times do you have two goalkeepers injured?

"That has been our season but we managed to win and that's the most important thing."

On Mamardashvili injury: "It didn't look great, it was a big wound and he went straight to the hospital. Let's see how that works out for him but fear worst - not for a long-term injury but for next week."

  4. 'We knew it was going to be a battle'published at 16:55 BST

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I enjoyed it because it was a very big, important three points. First game here to good to get a win. We knew it was going to be a battle, that was expected. We responded pretty well after the first disallowed goal with the goal we scored. We had some shorts from distance and happy that I could contribute with a goal as well in the end."

On the intensity of Everton: "That was expected with them playing at home, they make it as difficult as possible. All absolutely normal when you play derby like this you have to settle the game in the way you play.

"You have to manage the game, match the intensity and go beyond that. They had spells when they can become dangerous. I thought we did well, I'm very happy for the boys."

On the first derby at Dickinson Hill: "Goodison was always very difficult, very intense, compact and they had a great time over there. For us, it was important to get our first win here in our first game here."

On a tough season: "That's an understatement to say it's been a tough season. We've been very poor, what we are used to and should expect from Liverpool.

"We have five games left, we have to give it everything, at least qualify for Champions League. Next year we have to do much better in every sense. That's the reality. Five more games left and we have to give it everything."

On Arne Slot and the criticism: "[The win is] good for all of us, it's not just the manager that get criticised and rightly so. It's about being together, go through these five games together. It's going to be very difficult. We have to regroup and be fresh for next season because that wont be easy."

  5. 'There's no shame in how we performed today'published at 16:52 BST

    FT: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

    Everton

Everton manager David Moyes speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought the players played great today, they didn't get the result they deserved. We deserved more from it than we did. They did a great job. Disappointed with the last goal but in the main the players did a brilliant job.

On the disallowed goal: "The game was quite chaotic. In that period, it looked like a good goal for me but we trust the people that they got it right. We're not here to make any excuses, we should have got more, we didn't."

On Jarrad Branthwaite's injury: "It doesn't look great, it caused problems because we had already made a couple of subs so we were down to our last one. Jarrad was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch, I thought he played so well."

On losing to Liverpool: "There's no shame in how we performed today, we're playing against one of the teams in the league who expect to be challenging for Champions League and trophies. I think we gave them a good run for their money. I want this team to always be competitive. They didn't have it their own way."

    FT: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "What else would you expect when you play here? It was always going to be a real battle.

"My players did what I was hoping they'd do, what I expected they'd do and give Everton a big fight. In the end, scoring is a joy to see because our away fans were brilliant today. A good day for the red side of Liverpool."

On experience in the side: "There were multiple factors going in but that was one of them. From the start, we were not impressed, they were better in the first 10-15 minutes but we stood our ground.

"We got better and better in the game. The moment they scored for 1-1 was the moment I expected it the least because we started the second half well. Then towards the end we kept on pushing, were close a few times, and then scoring a goal you would expect Everton to score - a set piece - is nice for us."

On the slow start: "The start of a game is both teams go all in and fight then after 15-20 minutes the game calms down a bit and you can talk more about tactics or how you want to position yourself on the pitch.

"But the first 20 minutes is just running, facing duels, pressing on both sides - a bit of a chaos game usually in the Premier League, especially in a derby.

"When things settle down you could see more and more we could find the players we wanted to play, especially in the second half."

On added boost of winning first derby at Hill Dickinson: "Of course. We all know it's a special occasion, the first derby in their new stadium, you know it is one for history and to beat them for the second time this year - we haven't had a lot of positive things happen for us this season, we've usually conceded late.

"To score late, you could see the reaction of our players to the fans and the fans to our players. That tells you everything about how important this game is for us."

  7. 'We need to show our heart, our passion, our enthusiasm'published at 16:46 BST

    FT: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I will need tomorrow to take a day off and recover. I am so happy. 90 minutes we played how we wanted to perform. We conceded two goals in a crazy minute, we lost our minds.

"Until minute 75, we were playing a very good match. The last 20 minutes with extra time things changed because they scored two goals. Sometimes we need to show our heart and our passion, and enthusiasm. All or nothing. It's very important to me those three points."

On conceding twice in one minute: "Normally we are organised, it's our first objective. We try not to lose our position and after the first goal, we lost our focus and they used their threat to score the third goal. They had other chances to score the fourth goal and we would have lost the match.

"Always there are things we must improve and analyse. The league is so tight and we are there to achieve. One point is tough and today was the example."

  8. 'We fall short on quality, not desire' - Parkerpublished at 16:44 BST

    FT: Nottingham Forest 4-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Scott Parker, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "For an hour we were veyr good, very disciplined. We got our noses in front and it carried on in to the second half. The game changes on their goal, in that moment we give up two or three sloppy goals and lost our way. The inconsistencies have been paramount at times and you can see that today.

"[After conceding the first] it's not about tactics, it's about digging through the next bit and trying to get a foothold again. We didn't do that, in fact the opposite happened and we concede four. It is poor.

"The team have got scars and I understand that because it has been a long season. What you've seen today has been a replica of other games. You can see at times that is weighting heavy, particularly when we conceded. Senior players need to step up.

"I am never going to criticise our general work ethic and desire. Where we have fallen short is quality. We will keep going.

"It is a difficult period now, but it's about individuals, who you want to be and how you want to see out these last games. How we end this season will be key."

  9. 'Gibbs-White leads by example'published at 16:42 BST

    FT: Nottingham Forest 4-1 Burnley

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Periera, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "The three points is the most important thing. Keeping in mind we played a tough game three days ago, our first half we found it difficult to find the spaces and movements.

"At half-time we had a talk about changing the dynamics and attacking different spaces. Demanding the spirit and character and fight. In the end, a very good second half. I am happy with it."

On captain Morgan Gibbs-White: "He is leading by example. I know a lot of [captains] that speak and speak but it proves nothing. I didn't feel he was his best level in the first half but he did fantastic in the second half.

"Even when we are in bad moments we feel the energy from supporters and we create spirit in the team to face problems. The second half was a big example that we are alive and ready to fight until the last game to reach our target."

On Murillo, who came off injured: "I don't know. He needs to do a scan. Talking with him, I don't think it's serious. We'll see."

  10. 'I'm not sure Diarra's chance was best decision'published at 16:40 BST

    FT: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

    Sunderland

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris speaking to Match of the Day: "Disappointed because we had the opportunity to win the game, just with this one-v-one with Habib [Diarra]. But the opposite way we conceded the late goal.

"We showed good character and resilience, some good quality at times, but we felt the strength of Aston Villa and they created many chances. A bit too much to be competitive at the end of this game."

On starting the first and second half poorly: ""We didn't start well, first or second half. When you concede a goal straight after half-time it's always difficult. At 3-1, with only one goal you can change the dynamic and know it's possible. Our team wont give up."

On Diarra's chance: "It's a one-v-one. I'm not sure it's the best decision but it is what it is. You need to accept the output of the action because the goalkeeper was good as well."

"We are learning, we are still a newly promoted side and going away to Villa is a tough place. Ups and downs. We played with our identity until the end, took risks."

  11. Postpublished at 16:37 BST

    FT: Nottingham Forest 4-1 Burnley

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "A massive three points. We knew how important this game was coming into it. The first half was a bit nervous, tense. The words from the gaffer was to give it everything out there, whatever will be will be. They boys came out fighting, took our chances when we needed to and controlled the game.

"The first [chance] I was a bit erratic, I knew for the second one to take a touch and be a bit more composed. When the third went it, it was a delight. My first career hat-trick. I am over the moon, but more importantly we got the win and we have that gap."

On Elliot Anderson: "He is massive for us, and his decision to come back in is down to him - and it came out today as the right decision. It is a horrible moment right now, that's it."

  12. 'We lost our minds'published at 16:34 BST

    FT: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to Sky Sports: "I am so, so happy. We played a fantastic match and maybe the two goals we conceded in one minute, we lost our mind a little bit. They were excited. But how we reacted at 3-3 to score the fourth goal was fantastic.

"The Premier League is very difficult and to beat Sunderland, they had the opportunity today and still are in the run for Europe. We started this match with many objectives, one of them was to keep fourth, get an advantage on other teams and leave Sunderland further behind us. We did it. I am do happy with how we played. I am going to analyse deeply why we lost our minds in a few minutes.

"First half, we started intense and dominated. Of course we conceded very quickly but we recovered our positioning and we played our game plan. The second half was better, we had chances to score the fourth. Very positive today. I am analysing how we are building tactically and how we want to play."

On Emi Martinez's late one-one-one save: "We need strikers and goalkeepers. It was the match - three points for them and no three points for us."

  13. 'We were the better side but poor goal let us down'published at 16:31 BST

    FT: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

    Everton

Everton defender Jake O'Brien, speaking to Sky Sports: "Lost for words really, I thought we played well for the majority of the game and had the better chances.

"Then let ourselves down with a poor goal at the end. It's not a result that reflects the game, I don't think."

On going 1-0 down moments after thinking they'd gone 1-0 up: "Coming into a game like this is huge. Moments in a game can go for or against you but we stayed in it. Moments can be capitalised on and they scored a goal at the end that was really poor.

"I think we played well and the atmosphere was really good. It was a small moment that let us down, I think we were the better team on the day."

On European qualification hopes: "There are still a few games to go and we're right in it. The table is very tight."

  15. 'Hopefully I can say farewell in the right way'published at 16:25 BST

    FT: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, speaking to Sky Sports, on scoring in his last Merseyside derby: "It feels great. The most important thing was to help the team to settle down and feel more confident. We knew before the game it was going to be tricky, difficult, and I’m glad we were able to win it."

On just having a few games left as a Liverpool player: “No but I wish I just keep scoring and help the team to achieve Champions League this season. Hopefully I say farewell in the right way."

  16. 'We could have won it at the end'published at 16:22 BST

    FT: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

    Sunderland

Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a big game for both teams. We had a slow start and got back into the game and hard lines at the end.

"It's not over until it's over especially with the team we have, we keep fighting until the end and it's unfortunate we could have won it at the end or even took a point."

On scoring his first Premier League goal: "I've been practising that for a while now, just trying to cut inside on my left and thankfully it was a good finish."

On taking the positives: "There's always positives to take out of a game. We also need to pick up the negatives and where we need to fix up. We can take both positives and negatives from that game."

Forest were fantastic and took the game to Burnley in the second half.

I would like to know what Vitor Pereira said at half-time. Was it the tactical change? Or harsh words?

  18. 'We have to make the best of a poor season'published at 16:18 BST

    FT: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to Sky Sports, on comparisons to his debut winner against Everton: "Nothing like that, the debut goal was the perfect night for me personally.

"But today was massive in the situation that we are, in hunt for the Champions League spots. That is definitely not Liverpool-worthy, in my opinion, but it is the reality and it was important we got the win. I'm glad we did."

On big boost to top-five hopes: "100%. We've got five more games left against teams that are also fighting for the Champions League spots. Every game is a big one. Like I said, we are very disappointed as whole for the season that we're having because of the quality we have. It's below standards.

"But we have to keep fighting, keep going and make the best out of this poor season we're having. That's the reality, onto the next. Today was a good three points and next up is Crystal Palace at home, who we couldn't beat for many, many games before."

On Mohamed Salah: "There will be a lot of words coming out of my mouth in the next couple of weeks about him. But he's so important for us, on and off the pitch.

"The appreciation sometimes come when players are gone but we appreciate him so much. He's an outstanding team-mate to have, we've been through everything together, high and lows. He will still be important for the last five games we have to play.

"It will be emotional for him and his family for sure but us as well because he means a lot to me, to the team and the fans, of course. But first, we still have a job to do. He knows it, that's the main focus."

  19. 'It wasn't perfect but who cares'published at 16:15 BST

    FT: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn speaking to Sky Sports: "We were in control of the game, had chances to go 4-1 or 5-1 up but Sunderland are a good team, they put us on the backfoot. We've got to manage the game better. To go 3-3 is something we are definitely not happy with."

On Villa grabbing a late winner: "We're buzzing. We will be frustrated in there, we know we won the game but we've got high standards of ourselves as a group.

"What a position we are in, semi-final of European competition and pole position to qualify for top five. We can go and achieve what not many Aston Villa players have done for a long time. We're keen to do that and we're driven, five big games left to try and get ourselves over the line.

"When you see the difference of the two points big Tammy Abraham has added for us at the end, its huge for us. We knew how important this game was. It wasn't perfect but who cares at the end of the day."

  20. 'Luckily I was in the right place at the right time'published at 16:12 BST

    FT: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa matchwinner Tammy Abraham speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we got too relaxed and made a few mistakes and Sunderland punished us, they are a good team.

"As a striker, watching Ollie [Watkins] today, he was staying alive in the box and when I came on I told myself to do the same thing. Luckily for me I was in the right place at the right time.

"We are a team that believes in ourselves. We are doing so well this season, we just have to carry on with the confidence."

On the fans: "They're the best. I was lucky to be here in the promotion years so I knew all about them and every game they bring us confidence and support us day in and day out. I love them."
