Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery, spoke to TNT Sports post-match: "With a loss, you can never feel happy but how we compete, how the players respond on the field for 90 minutes. And our chances to score, we must feel really very proud of what we have done today.
On Brian Madjo and George Hemmings: "Their experiences and having days like today are very important. They show how are they are learning after their hard work. This is the way, we decided before the game how we wanted to play this game, we have worked the players in these positions.
On Emiliano Martínez, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins who didn't travel: "They are joining us after this match, we have our last friendly on Saturday. They are not going to be there but they will start trancing with us now, we wanted to give them four week holiday because the season was very demanding. We think it's better to work with players that are fit. Overall we can feel proud of everything we've done. Some changes will be needed but we are confident."
On any further transfer business: "Normally there will be more changes."

Unai Emery confirms the missing players from tonight - Ollie Watkins, Emi Martinez and Ezri Konsa - will be back in training at the weekend but will not feature in their final friendly of pre-season against Borussia Monchengladbach.
He also suggests there could be some transfer business to be done.

"They are top players. They get chances, they score and they won the game.
"We were there and competing very well [at 1-1]. At the end of the first half we had chances. Second half we were showing character.
"I tried to help him [Brian Madjo]. He's young. He has good development.
"There are changes [this summer] but the structure, the manager and the club want to keep. We have to keep working hard."

When you've got a young player coming, especially on a stage like this one, against PSG, getting in those scoring positions and not allowing that disappointment to stay with you. I saw Brian Madjo, he had his hands on his head for a couple of seconds and then he got into another scoring position.
He was brave enough to get back into that scoring position, and if he keeps missing it's not frightening him. He's happy to have that pressure on his shoulders. I've been there, you need to be able to deal with it. At 17, he seems to be doing it easily.

PSG went about it in the right way, they had some tired players towards the end but to see them go about it the way they did was brilliant. They've got players that have been there and won big competitions, they've got that know-how.
They weren't giving their all but it was preseason. The goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, his first touch was fantastic. I wouldn't say Villa weren't good tonight, they gave themselves the best opportunities, they had other chances too but they just couldn't get that next goal. There will be positives Unai Emery can take from that.

PSG have just shown world football this is how you manage and win a game, with quality and hard work. The management when they have the game won, choosing the right decision, draining all the energy out of the Villa players to make the pitch big, brilliant from PSG.

It was unlucky for Villa, though, and, given the quarter-final matches a couple of seasons ago too where PSG won by an aggregate score of 5-4, Villa have given the holders some really big tests.

Paris St-Germain made it back-to-back Uefa Super Cup titles after a narrow victory over spirited Aston Villa.
Desire Doue's 62nd-minute winner - after a video assistant referee (VAR) check for offside - sealed the success for the Champions League holders in Salzburg.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia thumped in a delightful 20th-minute opener for PSG, before Villa's Brian Madjo announced himself in fine style with a 45th-minute leveller.
The 17-year-old striker became the youngest scorer in the Super Cup when he struck on his debut at the Red Bull Arena.
Madjo, an England Under-17 international, had already missed two fine chances - shooting wide and heading over - before volleying in John McGinn's cross at the back post just before half-time.
It marked a perfect ending to an eight-month battle to play, with Villa banned from registering him by Fifa, after he joined from Metz for £10m in January.
Villa won an appeal at the start of August through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to allow him to play in competitive fixtures.
Madjo was a constant physical threat to the PSG defence, but his goal was not enough to stop the French side retain the trophy they won for the first time last year by beating Tottenham on penalties.
Villa, playing in the Super Cup after winning the Europa League in May, had their chances, forcing PSG keeper Matvey Safonov into solid saves.
But defeat meant boss Unai Emery has now lost all four of his finals in the competition after also missing out with previous clubs Sevilla and Villarreal.
Somali official Omar Artan made history as the first non-European referee to take charge of the contest, having been denied entry into the United States for this summer's World Cup.

Pre-game, captain McGinn promised Villa fans they could still expect "as much as possible" this season despite the high-profile exits of Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans.
A battling performance in Austria backed those words up as, even in this defeat by PSG, Villa scared the European champions for a second time in 18 months, following their 5-4 Champions League last-eight defeat in 2025.
It came with a depleted side.
No Ollie Watkins, Emi Martinez and Ezri Konsa - given more time off after the World Cup - which allowed teenager Madjo to finally show what he can do after Villa won their appeal to register him, and 19-year-old midfielder George Hemmings also getting a start.
The positives were also evident despite the loss, with Boubacar Kamara also playing his first competitive match since a serious knee injury in January.
Villa should be stronger for the Premier League season opener at Brighton on 23 August, with the club due to be active in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
Atletico Madrid left-back Matteo Ruggeri is poised to join this week, while they have not given up on their chase for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Ever the perfectionist, boss Emery will be frustrated by the loss - especially as it was his fourth defeat in the competition - but as Villa enter a new era there is a lot of cause for optimism.
