A massive noise when both Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly's names are read out loud to the crowd.

The supporters have now unveiled the banner of a ship which says 'over land and sea' and shows the badges of clubs that Arsenal have played up until this point.

This is the best atmosphere I have heard inside of the Emirates Stadium.

Based on the xG of shots on target faced (ex. own goals), Arsenal’s David Raya has prevented more goals than any other goalkeeper in the Champions League since the start of last season (+9.9 – 13 conceded from 22.9 xG on target), as well as having the most clean sheets of any goalkeeper in this period (14).

    Matt Upson

I think we probably had an eight-week period where it was going a bit stale [for Arsenal]. They were getting points and victories but not in a fashion where they were dominating or looking like they were going to kick on.

Then they hit a sticky patch and it could have gone either way for them but they've found another serge and maybe they've been clever with the squad and it's back again. It's looking better and Saka is a boost because they were relying solely on set-plays.

Glad Arteta has started a more attacking side today and given Lewis-Skelly a chance in a big game. Hopefully we play attacking too.

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's going to be very tactical, very tight, little moment's, sending off's. There's going to be a hundred moments in that game, I feel.

It's a stronger squad, Arsenal, stronger experiences and a history of fighting for the league until the last second. Arsenal have got everything to go through today.

  12. 'Atletico can bring the angst'published at 19:53 BST

    Rob Green
Former Premier League goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Etihad Stadium

It's most un-Arteta like this [the team he has picked]. It leads to a general feeling that this is quite a feel-good place and the angst [of the Premier League] isn't there. One thing Atletico Madrid can do is bring the angst, they can bring the tension. So it will be a very different battle. I'm surprised, but pleasantly surprised.

Ademola Lookman brings a little bit of rawness, he's a clever player as well and then he can, a bit like Saka as well, make it very difficult for full-backs.

I remember him coming to me a few times [at Everton] and we'd have a chat about how he can take his game to the next level and he was always wanting to learn and do better and now he's at Atletico, he can be the difference in them going to the final and winning the tournament.

Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez has averaged a goal or assist every 80 minutes in his Champions League career (34 in 2,710 minutes – 25 goals, 9 assists). Of strikers with 20+ goal involvements in the competition, only his former Manchester City team-mate Erling Haaland (74) has a better ratio.

Atletico Madrid might traditionally be associated with being defensively solid and the type of football one might consider to be 'boring'.

But they actually haven't really played like that this season.

With the fire power of Julian Alvarez, Marcos Llorente and Alexander Sorloth they have been scoring goals for fun.

  16. Griezmann's European farewell?published at 19:46 BST

Arsenal v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST)

Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann will leave the club at the end of the season and that means this could be his final appearance in Europe for Diego Simeone's side.

This will be the 35-year-old's 128th appearances in major European competition - the fourth-most by a French player, only behind Karim Benzema (152), Thierry Henry (135) and Claude Makelele (130).

Griezmann is also one of only four Frenchmen with 50+ goals in major European competition (50), along with Karim Benzema (90), Kylian Mbappe (78) and Thierry Henry (58).

It's definitely going to be a great atmosphere inside the stadium tonight.

The Atletico Madrid fans have pretty much already filled their section and are chanting as the team warm up.

There's an Arsenal fan display planned before kick-off and for these big games they are usually very impressive.

Arsenal v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST, 1-1 agg)

    Arsenal

Arteta speaking to the BBC's Alex Howell on BBC Radio 5 Live before the match: "Be prepared, be ready, be quality and be clarity and deliver on the day. Go out and grab it."

On tonight's game: "I can't wait, I feel the energy, these are the moments that we want to live together. We have been working for this for twenty years to be in this position again. We are so hungry to win the game and go through to the final."

On Saka: "That's what we need when we arrive at this stage of the competition, we need players to be available and to be on top form to perform and make the difference."

  20. 'Gyokeres suffers in comparison to Haaland'published at 19:38 BST

Arsenal v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST, 1-1 agg)

    Rory Smith
Football Correspondent for The Observer on BBC Radio 5 Live Monday Night Club

I do wonder whether Viktor Gyokeres suffers in comparison to Erling Haaland because Haaland has redefined the numbers that we think count as good for a striker.

Although Gyokeres has had a solid season in terms of 21 goals, 14 in the league now - they're decent numbers - because Haaland scored 50 before Christmas or whatever it looks like Gyokeres is a level below.

I think the problem there is that Haaland is a total outlier statistically and you can't compare people to him.
