Match Facts
This will be the first ever international meeting between Northern Ireland and Guinea. The Green and White Army last faced a nation for the very first time in June 2024, beating Andorra 2-0 in a friendly.
Northern Ireland have never lost in three previous meetings with African nations in all competitions, beating Morocco 2-1 in a 1986 friendly, before 1-1 draws with Algeria in the 1986 World Cup and Morocco in a 2010 friendly.
Guinea have faced a European nation on three different occasions – all in friendlies. They lost to East Germany 3-2 in 1962, drew 0-0 with Türkiye in 2021, and won 2-1 against Kosovo in 2021.
Since the start of 2025, Northern Ireland have only won one of their five friendlies (D2 L2), beating Iceland 1-0 in June last year.
Guinea have only lost one of their last nine matches in all competitions (W3 D5), although that was their most recent, a friendly defeat to Benin in March (0-1).
10 of Northern Ireland’s last 12 goals in all competitions (excl. own goals) have been scored by players aged 21 or younger, with the only exceptions being 31-year-old Jamie Reid against Luxembourg in September 2025, and 23-year-old Trai Hume against Slovakia in October 2025.
During the 2025-26 season, Northern Ireland’s Jamie Reid both scored (14) and was directly involved in (17 – 14 goals, 3 assists) more goals than any other player for Stevenage in all competitions.
Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy scored 22 goals for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions in 2025-26. Only three players netted more times for German Bundesliga clubs this season: Harry Kane (61), Luis Díaz (26), and Deniz Undav (25).
