McBurnie has 17 league goals and seven assists this season. Ross Stewart has nine, George Hirst 11, Che Adams five and Lyndon Dykes three. How can McBurnie still be overlooked when the numbers clearly back him? Make it make sense, Steve.

McBurnie deserved a spot! Harsh to miss out to less prolific strikers.

Plenty of debate on our YouTube reaction show, external regarding team selection for what feels like a must-win game in Scotland's group opener against Haiti.

The guys have been discussing who should be first pick at centre-forward, but I want to know what you lot think.

I'll post the five names and all you have to do is hit the thumbs...

We have incredible players that can produce incredible moments.

    We've got individual quality.

It's just that first game. A win is of vital importance.

Findlay Curtis has fronted up for a team struggling to stay in the Premiership.

Fair play to him. He's come from nowhere to be going to a World Cup.

    Findlay Curtis

Named in the last squad for the March friendlies against Japan and Ivory Coast - making his debut off the bench in the former - Findlay Curtis has propelled himself into the squad with sensational post-split form at Kilmarnock.

With four goals in five games for Neil McCann's side, the on-loan Rangers winger has captured the imagination of fans far beyond Ayrshire. He has also starred when Steve Clarke has been in the crowd at Rugby Park.

"It's very early in his career to be going to a World Cup, but we just don't have enough players throughout the squad who can come on and influence a game with that sort of pace and directness," said Sportscene pundit Scott Allan.

"He is someone who can get you up the pitch."

The loyalty to players that have been bit-part and fringe players this season/or serious injury doubts over guys that have done it week in, week out is shocking.

    Ian

Squad is a joke - Souttar, Hanley and Ralston are shocking picks. Better players who merit a call-up way more.

    Richard

Cannot fathom taking Ralston. Ross McCrorie can cover the same position and a few more. Ralston can't get a game for Celtic.

    Ten defenders to be exact.

As Tom points out, three of them are right-backs.

Both Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson have endured fitness issues this season, so I'm going to assume that's down to that.

  14. Should Stewart start?published at 11:15 BST

    Tom English

I'm delighted for Ross Stewart. He's had incredibly bad luck with injuries.

Every time he's played, he's been very good. He's a realistic option to start.

The three right-backs is maybe a reflection that Steve Clarke is worried about injury there. It is a lot of defenders.

I know Lennon Miller personally, so I'm gutted for him.

We are taking that fifth striker, and Ross Stewart deserves it.

  16. No Miller in squadpublished at 11:10 BST

    There's disappointment for a fellow 19-year-old, though.

Udinese midfielder Lennon Miller doesn't make it.

    Findlay Curtis, man.

Imagine you told that young fella he was going to a World Cup when he left Rangers to join Kilmarnock on loan just a few months ago.

    Incredible.

  18. Gordon makes itpublished at 11:05 BST

Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who has been working his way back to fitness, makes the squad.

He hasn't played a minute of football since a 2-2 draw with Celtic in January.

What a story that would be in the 43-year-old's career if he turns out at a World Cup.

  19. Stewart INpublished at 11:03 BST

    Wow, OK.

Ross Stewart makes it off the back of an excellent 2026 with Southampton.

He has two caps for his country, both as a substitute in 2022.
