Rangers moved to the top of the SWPL on goal different as they got the better of defending champions Hearts away from home.

Both sides had started the season with two wins from their opening two games, notching up 11 goals apiece in the process.

Despite Hearts' early possession, Rangers broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark - Laura Berry with a great first touch with her right foot and finish with her left.

Rangers grew in confidence and were soon two up. A long ball over the top found Bailley Collins, whose first-time strike beat goalkeeper Rachael Johnstone.

Hearts tried to hit back before half-time and Kayla Jardine's lovely shot was not far away, cracking off the bar.

Rangers were quick out the blocks in the second half. Johnstone saved the initial effort from Calliste Brookshire but the ball was cleared only as far as Berry, who grabbed her second of the afternoon.

Hearts did threaten after that, Mariana Speckmaier forcing a save from Rangers keeper Shu Ohba, while Lauren Wade fired over.

Rangers and Celtic both sit on maximum points after three games.

Partick Thistle jumped up into sixth in the SWPL with a comfortable win at Aberdeen.

The result leaves the pointless Dons at the foot of the table.

The visitors led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Abby Robinson - her first for Thistle since joining from Kilmarnock - and Sophie Townsley, who curled in a beauty.

Motherwell picked up their first victory of the new SWPL season, seeing off hosts Spartans 3-1.

The visitors, who had conceded 12 goals in their opening two league games, made the breakthrough on 41 minutes through Carla Boyle.

That was Motherwell's first league goal of the league season and a minute later they had two, Sophie Rutherford doubling the lead.

Lucy Ronald made it 3-0 on the hour and although Montrose pulled one back from a Kaela McDonald-Nguah penalty, the visitors held on to inflict Montrose's third straight defeat.

A Lisa Forrest hat-trick helped Glasgow City thrash Spartans 7-0.

Like last weekend, Kelly Brady opened the scoring for the home side.

Then came two quickfire Forrest goals just after the half hour as City took a commanding lead into the break.

Spartans goalkeeper Alicia Yates was kept busy, but couldn't prevent Forrest grabbing her third of the afternoon.

Three late goals added to City's already healthy scoreline as Abi Harrison and Ruby Seaby netted within a minute of each other before Emily Whelan completed the rout.

That's back-to-back wins for City, but another heavy defeat for Spartans.

Two-first half goals from Celtic were enough to maintain their winning start to the SWPL season with victory over Hibs.

The visitors couldn't take advantage of their early pressing as Celtic grew into the game and started to take control.

They were rewarded three minutes before half-time as defender Chloe Craig netted a neat flick.

Within a minute Celtic had doubled their lead. Issy fisher kept her composure after a mistake at the back from Hibs as she raced towards goal and finished well.

Hibs were better in the second half but lacked a clinical edge, while Adelaide Gay produced a brilliant fingertip save to keep out Rachael Boyle.

The result ends Hibs' winning start to the season but extends Celtic's run to three victories from three.
