    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi speaking to Sky Sports on whether he regrets not making his triple substitution earlier: "The ball was inside the pitch. Yes, two minutes before. But you know the physical condition of James Maddison. He's not available to play more than 20 or 25 minutes. I was waiting to spend two or three more minutes and to make this change.

"Like Djed Spence and Pape Sarr - all three players came on to the pitch very well, they changed the energy. James Maddison can't play more than 20 or 25 minutes. It's just two weeks with us. But it's important in the last 20 minutes."

  4. Raya, Gabriel and Saliba 'vital' during title-winning seasonpublished at 23:53 BST 19 May

The spine is so vital if you're going to achieve something over a season.

To win a Premier League season you need an exceptional goalkeeper. David Raya, not only did he make those saves, it is the moments that he does it and the consistency that he does it. He wins games.

In front of Raya is Gabriel, emotional and aggressive. You see everything he does, he is the perfect yin to the yang of Saliba. Gabriel has built into his role, he is always there and puts his body on the line just like Raya does. He is aggressive and so confident.

Saliba the yin to Gabriel's yang, calm, smooth, almost Van Dijk-like. He is always there for his team and a top player.

I don't think it's been highlighted enough that Arteta and the club like an English contingent of players.

That's great for the England national team and for our game generally.

They've used eight English players this season and a lot of them have been integral.

With all the narrative around the way they're playing and 'it doesn't look good', I think that's been missed - someone that actually believes in English players.

I know some of them have come through, like Saka. A lot of the others he's brought in. In an age when we don't have the abundance of talent we once had - especially in forward areas for England - that deserves some respect as well.

The progression has been tremendous. From where they were to where they are, being competitive in the last couple of years in the top of the league and the Champions League.

They still have that wonderful opportunity now to make it a historic season for the club.

  7. 'It is pretty clear what is going to go on'published at 23:47 BST 19 May

    Joe Hart
Former England goalkeeper on Match of the Day

Obviously, with the [Pep Guardiola] interview after the game and everything that has come out recently, it is pretty clear what is going to go on.

You have got to give the club, the manager, the respect of what they want to do with the announcement [of him leaving].

I think tonight was difficult, but you could see emotionally they were running low. The run they have been on during these 10 years has been incredible.

The revolving door that goes on at Man City they make plans for this. They have a discussion about this. I am sure Pep will be involved in the succession plan for him. The plans will be in place.

Declan Rice has every attribute you'd want from a midfield player. He's been the best midfield player in the Premier League. His durability is incredible, he hardly ever misses a minute. His athleticism, defensively and on the press. You run out of superlatives for him.

His consistency is of the highest level. He spots danger consistently, he knows when to drop in and protect his back four. He knows when to get forward and go out and press. There are very few in Europe who can press better than him.

Maybe he could add a few goals and assists to his game. But we can see he's capable of that as well.

He's such an important player for this Arsenal team. He's probably the most deserving, in many ways.

  10. 'Arsenal and Arteta have remained solid'published at 23:39 BST 19 May

We all know the rollercoaster Mikel Arteta has been on with Arsenal.

In terms of people getting frustrated, the modern way that football is. Once you don't win it, 'get him out, we need someone else'. Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have remained solid.

Most of those players were brought into the football club by him and it has allowed him to get to this huge moment.

They're not only Premier League champions, they're Champions League finalists as well.

  11. 'This team won a final last year'published at 23:37 BST 19 May

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi speaking to BBC Match of the Day on what needs to be different on Sunday: "We have to score. We have to defend better. We conceded two goals, one from 30 metres of our goal from Fernandez. We could defend better in that situation. The second goal, the ball was clearly in our possession and we lost a stupid ball and conceded a counter attack. Before both goals we had chances to score, first through Tel, saved well by Sanchez, another chance in the second half through Richarlison.

"We are alive, we have a good spirit, a good behaviour. Now we have to prepare the next game, the crucial game. At the beginning of my time I think we have been in worse situations in football, mentality, attitude behaviour - everything. Now I think we are better, we are playing well. We have to prepare for a final. Last season, Tottenham won the final against Man Utd and now we have to play with blood, character, personality and pride. We have to play another final - maybe more important."

On whether nerves and anxiety played a part in their defeat by Chelsea: "We showed what we needed to win a game. Today we played a good game if we speak about football, with the right spirit, with the right personality. We could play better, for sure. We could defend better. We could create more chances to score. Everything is true. But anyway we have to be happy because we played a good game in this stadium. And I think if we play like this, we can achieve the target."

On his message for the fans coming to the last game: "The fans were fantastic at Stamford Bridge today. We need them. Together we have to fight again 90 minutes. But we have to fight with the right spirit, the right character."

  13. 'The best defensive team in Europe'published at 23:33 BST 19 May

    Arsenal crowned Premier League champions

    Danny Murphy
    Former Liverpool midfielder on MOTD

It's an unbelievable moment. It's what you play the game for, moments like that.

They've thoroughly deserved it. They've been the most consistent team. And they've done it by being the best defensive team in Europe. That should be admired, not criticised.

It takes discipline, hard work, lots of good coaching. Of course they've got talent going the other way but that defensive solidity and that work ethic they have is a credit to the manager because he won't have any passengers in that team.

And although it's not been brilliant to watch, and there is a narrative about that being negative, I actually admire it. It's a dying art, defending, these days. Of course they're brilliant at set pieces which again I think should be admired. They've bought well, they've got a great squad and they've been the best team. Thoroughly deserved.

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs midfielder Joao Palhinha speaking to Sky Sports after his side's defeat by Chelsea: "We have to [use the defeat as fuel for final game]. That's the reality. We cannot think too much about the result. We more than played well. We needed the result to finish this thing that we have been living for a long time. This team needed a different result, we deserved it.

"It's been a tough season for us with a lot of things happening inside the club. The reality is we have a final on Sunday. We want to keep Tottenham in the Premier League and we will go with everything. I don't think I need to speak too much about this game because we wanted to win. We deserved more, it's a big frustration.

"We will have Tottenham in the Premier League next season, I don't have any doubt about that because it's where the club belong. Let's go with everything."

Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi speaking to Sky Sports on whether he has any concerns around his players' resilience: "We had a great reaction after the first and second goals. In my time we made eight points in six games. We deserve more points, we lost two points with Brighton. Now we are not to analyse anything, we are to prepare for the last game in the best way."

On whether he has seen enough to have confidence that they'll survive: "At the beginning of the game, yes. The end of the game, the same. The last twenty minutes we played with more qualities because Maddison is not a normal player for us. I think we are alive, with the right spirit. Normally we can't win every game because if we stay in this place of the table we have had some problems. We have all qualities to achieve our target."

  18. Sanchez 'can't wait to work with' Alonsopublished at 23:16 BST 19 May

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was only 48 hours to prepare, it was difficult, especially after a final but we go again. We knew if we got six points in the next two games, then we would qualify for Europe.

"I think it was good. We knew Spurs would come with energy. Obviously, they're fighting for their lives.

On Xabi Alonso becoming new Chelsea manager: "It's good. I'm very happy and the boys are as well. It's good to see we'll have a bit of stability for the future and pre-season. I know what a great manager he is, so I can't wait to work with him."

The Tottenham players looked dejected but went over to the away end at Stamford Bridge, where they received impressive support despite the defeat.

Before leaving the pitch, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi had a few words with referee Stuart Attwell and his assistants. It's unclear exactly what was the problem with no major controversy during the match.

It goes down to a nervy final day at home to Everton, with West Ham still capable of surviving at their rivals’ expense.
