Charlton Athletic

Charlton defender Ashleigh Neville said: "It is very difficult to concede six at home. We knew it would be tough at the beginning. I can’t take it away from them, they are an incredible team.

"There are some positives to take but it is a difficult one to take conceding six goals.

"The first 20 minutes was a bit of a shock, it took us that long to find our shape. We need to start better, we can’t be conceding four goals that early because it puts you on the back foot.

"If I'm being honest the group are incredible, we knew it would be hard from the start. It's a massive learning curve here but we are learning every week."

It was a dominant display from Chelsea this afternoon.

It's tough for Charlton, but this isn't a game they will have targeted to get any points form. she would have wanted an honest performance from her team.

She will be proud of the second-half performance. She would have been really disappointed from that opening 20 minutes, but there was a reaction.

Charlton have a pivotal part of their season coming up, they have to improve massively.

Chelsea, wow, they didn't have to be at their best but it was like an exhibition matches at times.

They are playing like a team who are hurting from last season and that's a dangerous prospect for everyone else in the WSL.

Tottenham midfielder Drew Spence says it is a "very proud moment" to become the Women's Super League's all-time appearance record holder.

Spence, 34, started in Tottenham's WSL game against Birmingham City on Sunday, making her 217th appearance in the competition.

She overtook ex-Chelsea captain Millie Bright and is the only outfield player at Tottenham to play 90 minutes in all of their WSL games this season.

"I've been around for a while! I'm incredibly proud to be able to do that and it's not just a proud moment for me, but also for my family," Spence told BBC Sport.

"It's [about] all the hard work that I put in throughout the years. When you're younger, you don't really think about these types of accolades.

"It was all about winning trophies. Now it's happened, it's such a massive part of my career and something that I can be proud of to look back on.

"I know the sacrifices - looking after yourself and making sure that you're available all the time. I know how hard it is to keep that motivation for so many seasons."

West Ham United

West Ham manager Rita Guarino said: "Very happy, very proud of the team, we deserved this win. From the first minute we played a very good game with pressure, with defending, attacking, the effort we put in this game.

"We were able to use the space we needed to create this type of opportunities so I'm very proud.

"We need this kind of energy [against Manchester City next week] and it's not simple to go away in the house of the champions."

On two-goal Viviane Asseyi: "She missed a hat-trick unfortunately but very happy. She is an incredible player so very happy for her and very happy in the way the team helped her to make this type of performance."

Four goals within just 13 minutes minutes for Chelsea put the game out of sight very early on.

They remained dominant throughout despite only scoring two more.

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor said: "A flat start, we gave away a decisive penalty in the first five minutes and then you are always facing an uphill battle.

"They were very direct, we had a lot of play but we still need to do more with it in the final third as that scoreline should've looked closer.

"They [West Ham] always seemed to come out with the ball, which is unacceptable from us.

"Your initial feeling is frustration and disappointment and we have to dust ourselves down and get ready for a game at Anfield [against Arsenal] next week."

Liverpool captain Grace Fisk said: "We were way off it in a lot of departments, competing, small actions, duels, they were better than us.

"Disappointing as I feel performances have been really positive, even if results have not gone our way, but we were way off it it so a disappointing day.

"They started well and we didn't, that happens in football but we never got to grasp the intensity of the game. We lack creativity at the moment and that has been a problem.

"They were really clinical and at half-time we were three-nil down. We came out believing but it did not happen. We all need to be better. I don't think anyone can hold their heads up this week. We will come back fighting for sure."

A reminder that as things stand Chelsea are moving back to the top of the WSL.

Their goal difference will be 11 better than Manchester City's if things remain as they are.

West Ham United

West Ham's two-goal scorer Viviane Asseyi said: "We work a lot in every training session and we give everything in every game. It's a collective win today and I'm really happy.

"We know in this league every game is really hard to win and you have to be focused from the beginning to the end. Unfortunately we conceded a goal, but we won this game and it's a really important win for us.

"This league is the best in the world at the moment. Manchester City [who they play on Saturday] is the best team in the league for me. We can enjoy this victory and next week we will be focused on Manchester City."
