Keri Halliday's double helped seal a comfortable home win for Hearts against Partick Thistle.

The victory keeps the Edinburgh club in third spot in the SWPL, five points adrift of leaders Rangers while Thistle remain in sixth place with seven points on goal difference.

Carly Girasoli opened the scoring for Hearts before Halliday doubled their advantage.

Erin Rennie had their third inside 20 minutes after some superb play from Jess Husband.

Despite Hearts' early dominance, Thistle pulled a goal back on the half hour mark as Abby Robinson converted her fourth goal of the season with a great strike.

Kayla Jardine's effort from distance gave Hearts a fourth shortly after the restart and then set up Halliday for the fifth.

And the champions weren't finished there. Carly Johns not content with her earlier assist, rounded off the scoring and a comfortable afternoon for her side.

Glasgow City extended their unbeaten run to seven games as they eased aside Motherwell at Petershill.

Yuuka Kurosaki's opener was followed up four minutes later by Kelly Brady to double the hosts' advantage.

Brady turned provider for City's third as she laid the ball on a plate for Ruby Seaby to finish off from close range.

The victory leaves City seven points behind Rangers who defeated Hibernian while Motherwell are eighth, a point behind Spartans.

Montrose picked up their first league win of the season to move off the foot of the SWPL table.

Their 3-1 victory away to Spartans means they're now three points clear of basement side Aberdeen. The Edinburgh side are seventh on goal difference.

Hannah Stewart scored their opening goal from the corner to give the visitors the lead at half time.

Early in the second half Montrose then doubled their advantage after a great strike from Demi Taylor.

Jade McLaren came on as a substitute on 75 minutes and seven later she sealed their long-awaited win with a header.

  4. Rangers stay three clear after winpublished at 16:13 BST 18 October

    Rangers 4-2 Hibernian

Rangers remain three points clear at the top of the SWPL after victory over Hibernian kept their winning start intact.

Despite scoring two late second-half goals, the defeat sealed back-to-back losses for the visitors.

Rangers had Shu Ohba back in goal after her gold-medal success at the Asian Games for Japan, and she was called into action early on.

Kyah Simon - on her first start for Hibs - played a lovely through ball for Libby Smith, who raced on to it and tried to beat Ohba at the near post. But in the end it was an easy save for the goalkeeper.

Rangers reacted well to the early pressure and thought they'd opened the scoring. Laura Berry played a lovely ball across the face of goal but, as Calliste Brookshire poked it home, the referee deemed she had fouled Hibs goalkeeper Eve Annets.

It wasn't long before the home side did go in front, though. Brookshire's persistence enabled her to whip in a dangerous ball, which Katie Wilkinson laid off for Berry to net.

Rangers' second was all down to Wilkinson's awareness and stunning execution, the striker spotting Annets off her line and lobbing her brilliantly from 40 yards. Quite a way to score your ninth league goal.

Hibs knew they would have to start the second half well if they were to get back into this one. However slackness from Siobhan Hunter at the back allowed Jodie McLeary to nip in, although she couldn't take advantage.

But McLeary - in her 150th appearance for Rangers - was soon celebrating, and Brookshire was again key. She tried to get a shot away after driving into the area, but McLeary was there for the rebound.

Rangers were looking comfortable and Wilkinson grabbed her second with a powerful free kick.

Despite being four down, Hibs continued battle, and showed signs of promise with two late second half goals - albeit one came after Rangers were down to 10 with Gry Boe Thrysoe going off injured with all the subs having been used.

Simon finished off a lovely move before Jasmine McQuade steered home in injury time.

Celtic claimed all three points on their travels as they inflicted a heavy defeat on struggling Aberdeen.

The 6-0 win for Grant Scott's side made it back-to-back league victories, but leaves Aberdeen rooted to the table still without any points.

Chloe Craig got Celtic off the mark early on as she steered the ball through a sea of defenders.

The visitors' pressure continued and their intent was rewarded nine minutes later as Maria McAneny's header doubled their lead.

Celtic were relentless in the first half and could have been further ahead. A fine save from Katie O'Hanlon in the Aberdeen goal kept out Shannon McGregor, while Evie Rabjohn's long range effort cracked off the bar.

Celtic started the second half with the same intensity, and were soon 3-0 up, as O'Hanlon failed to kept the ball from crossing the line.

Their fourth soon followed as McAneny was there to head in her second of the day.

The visitors were running riot. Rabjohn going from provider to scorer, as she grabbed her first competitive goal for the club.

Celtic made changes with the game out of sight, and Morgan Cross marked her return to action by scoring the winner, and sealing a convincing three points.
