The last thing we want to see is players leaving the field of play. I think both occasions you could have said it was a red straight away but that wasn't in the mind of the referee.

If you know that you've got that system behind you, you will wait for them to tell you.

Bournemouth almost take the lead through a fantastic Junior Kroupi effort. He curls a shot in from outside the box that has Bernd Leno clutching at air, but it comes back off the crossbar.

Brighton lose Kaoru Mitoma to injury. He hobbles off and Joel Veltman replaces him.

Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz is booked for pulling the shirt of Marcos Senesi. For the first time today VAR doesn't need to get involved.

Amad Diallo should've taken on the shot there.

Bruno Fernandes went to slip the ball through, inadvertently it clipped off a Sunderland player, and Amad was coming in on the angle only seven yards out and 1v1 with the goalkeeper.

He has been very selfless, to his credit, choosing to square it to Matheus Cunha - but taking the shot himself was a better option.

The VAR has actually helped the referee today and they have got both decisions right. The referee always has that comfort blanket if they do get it wrong.

It's a lovely ball into the box by Chemsdine Talbi, but Brian Brobby hesitated with his run and he can't get to the back post in time to tap home.

This game is opening up now. Fewer players to fill up the pitch of course. Fulham defender Antonee Robinson cuts inside Rayan and has a shot saved.

Mason Mount is the first name to go in the book after he wipes out Omar Alderete.

I don't mind a referee trying to keep 11 players on the pitch for each team and judging it on that side of the margin. VAR will only get involved if there is a neccesity for it, which there was.

No referee wants their decision for them to be oevrturned, let alone twice in one game.

This is Joshua Zirkzee's first start since November and it shows.

The Dutchman's link up play is not slick. His lay-offs are forcing team-mates to shift their positions or he is not seeing off-the-ball runs fast enough.

It is only to be expected after such a lack of meaningful action but it is partly why Manchester United have struggled today.
