Okay, we'll call it a night.

And what a night it was, with Celtic surviving a huge threat to their chances of defending their title, conceding first at Fir Park and knocking in a winner with a penalty awarded in the last seconds of stoppage-time after a VAR intervention.

It sets up a cracker on Saturday, with Hearts and Celtic going head-to-head for the crown on the final afternoon of a tumultuous Scottish Premiership season.

One last dose of drama to come...

Focusing on the positives, there’s no reason why Hearts can’t win the title.

As much as there’s disappointment, scepticism and a lot of ill will coming off the back of tonight, Hearts need to focus on the positives and they are capable of getting the result they need to win the trophy.

    Scott Brown
Former Celtic captain on BBC Sportscene

I’m going to the game and looking forward to it but it’s going to be so nervy.

I think 60,000 fans at Celtic Park will make a difference. It would have been different if was a draw [at Fir Park] and they had to go and score three or four goals, that becomes anxious and nervous for fans and players.

But at home, to win a title in front of your own fans on the last day of the season, that’s how the players and manager would want to do it.

Just in case you've not been paying attention, Hearts and Celtic both won this evening - in rather different circumstances.

Hearts cruised to a 3-0 victory at home to Falkirk, while Celtic knocked in a 99th-minute penalty to edge past Motherwell 3-2 at Fir Park.

That leaves the Edinburgh side one point in front at the top, with the sides meeting at Celtic Park on Saturday on what is the final afternoon of an incredible season.

An exhausted Sportscene crew end a long radio shift with the question, 'who wins the title?' And presenter Kenny Macintyre also asks for one word to sum up the season.

Darren O'Dea says Celtic, Ryan Stevenson and Tom English say Hearts.

Sensational, illogical and bonkers are the other replies.

It is harsh. There is a hand there.

Sam's hand is in front of his forehead, whether Trusty's knocked him, Sam's not meant to handle it.

But he runs the risk as soon as his hand is up there. It's going to be a hard decision for anybody.

There's mitigation in that Auston Trusty is challenging. To give a clear and obvious error and a penalty kick for that, I have to tend to agree that it's extraordinary in the circumstances.

  9. 'Worst VAR decision I've seen' - Linekerpublished at 23:20 BST 13 May

    FT: Motherwell 2-3 Celtic

Lots of people having their say on the last-gasp penalty award at Fir Park.

Hearts boss Derek McInnes has already called it "disgusting".

Now Gary Lineker has weighed in.

The former England striker wrote on X: "This might be the worst VAR decision I've seen (and there's a lot of competition). Extraordinary given the significance.

We haven't had two opponents going head-to-head for the title on the final since 1991, when Rangers beat Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Saturday's game promises to be a titanic tussle.

There will be plenty of build up for the title showdown on Saturday.

    Are Celtic now slight favourites?

Not necessarily. Hearts have a one-point lead and are unbeaten against the defending champions this season, winning two of the three meetings, including a 2-1 at Celtic Park in December.

  12. 'It's a 90 minute cup final' - Shanklandpublished at 23:06 BST 13 May

    FT: Hearts 3-0 Falkirk

Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland tells BBC Sportsound: "We were fully prepared for going to Celtic Park at the weekend and needing a result. Obviously we were aware the situation could have changed but all that was in our heads was to win tonight and go again at the weekend.

"We've been there and won a couple of times during my time as a Hearts player. We go there confident and we've been top of the league all season.

"It's a 90-minute cup final, it's as simple as that. If you offered us that at the start of the season we would have taken it all day.

"It's going to be two teams looking to go for it and going for a title and it'll be exciting for everyone."

    Tom English

Hearts can definitely do it. There are so many weaknesses in this Celtic team. Having 60,000 people behind you is an enormous advantage but they are weak defensively, jittery. Look at the amount of chances Motherwell had.

It's about who has the toughest psychology.

Both sides are resilient. It's set up so incredibly well.

  14. 'Celtic will get job done'published at 23:01 BST 13 May

    Darren O'Dea

I don't think Celtic will blow Hearts away by any means but I do think they will get the job done.

The energy from the crowd will be through the roof.

  15. Gray savours Hibs' Ibrox 'smash and grab'published at 22:58 BST 13 May

    FT: Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Hibernian manager David Gray tells BBC Scotland: "Before the game, we spoke about coming here and winning. If I'm being honest, it was very much a smash and grab because of the way the game went. Rangers started really well and our goalkeeper had to make four or five massive saves which kept us in the game.

"With 15 minutes to go, we knew we needed to win, I threw strikers on, threw caution to the wind, went to a back four and opened it up. Even at that time, Rangers had a big chance before we scored.

"I was a bit disappointed with how we played at times but I've just said to the players, it was all about winning for us."

It looked very like Hibs' season had fizzled out with three successive defeats, featuring four red cards, but they have bounced back with two wins to pull within a point of Motherwell, who they host on Saturday.

Some thoughts from David Gray coming up.

  17. 'Strong change' required 'on and off pitch' - Rohlpublished at 22:55 BST 13 May

    FT: Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Rangers manager Danny Rohl tells BBC Scotland: "Today showed exactly why we need a strong, front-footed cut in the summer to change a lot of things on and off the pitch. That needs done and that is what we will do.

"When the opponent comes in our box three times and we concede twice and we have to work hard to create chances, this is not enough to keep us winning games. We said we have to be ruthless in both boxes. A lot of effort, but not enough. We have to demand more from ourselves otherwise we will not achieve our big goals in the future."

Rohl spoke to supporters from the Union Bears fans group at full-time and says it is "important to show respect to the supporters".

He adds: "When I arrived, I showed leadership and I did this today as well.

"Even today, the atmosphere was good, they were not negative and were behind the team. It's important to listen to them because it shows respect. We spoke about what we want and which direction we want to go in the future.

"It is a good thing they are demanding because then they agree - we are both demanding.

"The last four games are not what Rangers should be. We have different standards and this is what we have to work on. We will go strong in the pre-season with a lot of things."

  19. Celtic show enormous character - O'Neillpublished at 22:50 BST 13 May

    FT: Motherwell 2-3 Celtic

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill tells BBC Scotland: "That's what we wanted to do at the beginning of the week to try and take it into the final game of the season and the players have certainly done that. It was a magnificent effort today.

"We may not win it, but what we have done is that we have fought really impressively, I think, throughout these last number of weeks.

“When we lost at Tannadice, I keep going back to that, it was unimaginable for us to get back into the race in many aspects, thinking that you couldn't even drop a point, and for us to win the league, we couldn't drop a point from then on in.

"I think the players have shown enormous character to keep fighting right to the very, very end, and they've done that again.

"It could go either way, could go any way, but at least we've taken it to the final game."

When asked if he's ever experienced anything like this before, he adds: "Well, yeah, funnily enough at Motherwell about 100 years ago, and that was really disappointing.

"Tonight, in many aspects, it's got absolutely nothing to do with me, but in the personal note, it kind of makes up for that if that’s at all possible, but it won't make up for anything if we don't go on to win it.

"But listen, we're there, Hearts are a very, very good side and we have a fight on our hands, but we're going to try our utmost on Saturday. "

  20. 'Celtic penalty 'an unreal moment'published at 22:48 BST 13 May

    FT: Motherwell 2-3 Celtic

"I thought it was very unreal moment," says Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou when asked about the last-gasp penalty for Celtic. "I can't see any way in any world where that could be a penalty.

"I can't see a connection with the arm, but if there is it's because he connects with [Auston] Trusty and he pushes his arm up.

"It's a shame that a good game, with good tempo and intensity gets decided in a situation like that."
