Centre-back Ryan Tafazolli has signed a new contract to remain at Swindon Town through the 2026-27 season.

The 34-year-old joined the Robins from Wycombe Wanderers in August last year and went on to play in 24 games in all competitions.

He fractured his elbow last month and was expected to be unavailable for the remaining games of the season but returned to play in Swindon's final day defeat away at Chesterfield, as they missed out on a place in the play-offs.

Swindon manager Ian Holloway said Tafazolli was a "vital" character in the team.

"Ryan is a top professional and someone who brings so much to this football club," Holloway said.

"His experience, leadership, and calmness are hugely important for us, and you can see the impact he has on the players around him every single day."

Tafazolli joins goalkeeper Lewis Ward and midfielder Ollie Clarke in extending their deals at the County Ground beyond this summer.
