Argyle sign Bakinson and Irow on season-long loans

Plymouth Argyle have signed Leyton Orient midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson and Tottenham Hotspur forward Oliver Irow on season-long loans.

Bakinson rejoins the Pilgrims six years after he first played for the club under Ryan Lowe during the 2019-20 League Two promotion-winning campaign.

The 27-year-old has gone on to play for Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers, Charlton Athletic and Orient, where he featured 43 times last season.

Irow, 20, came through the Spurs youth set-up and spent the second half of last season on loan at Mansfield Town, where he played 18 times and scored four goals.

Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley described Bakinson as someone who could "do a bit of everything" in midfield.

"He is tall, physical, reads the game well and is clean on the ball," he told BBC Radio Devon. "I'm looking forward to working with him."

Speaking about Irow, Cleverley said the forward as being able to play in a variety of positions.

"He's a young winger who can play off the left, or the right, and down the middle as well. So, he is versatile and gives us options."

The double signing comes just days after Plymouth sold midfielder Brendan Wiredu to Salford.

Cleverley confirmed both players would be available for the EFL Cup second-round tie against Coventry City on Tuesday.
