Guernsey FC progressed through the FA Vase first qualifying round after a 1-0 win at Newhaven.

Charlton Gauvain put the Green Lions ahead in the 10th minute as he rounded the goalkeeper and finished well.

Goalkeeper Josh Addison kept his side in front at the break thanks to a number of decent saves.

Sam Murray saw an early second-half effort saved while Gauvain had a chance cleared off the line as Guernsey upped the tempo.

The Green Lions were again grateful to Addison as he saved a free kick with 10 minutes to go.

The win came a week after the islanders were thrashed 5-0 by Crowborough Athletic in the FA Cup.

Tony Vance's side return to league action on Tuesday night when they travel to Crawley Down Gatwick.
