The 2026 Mountain Bike World Championships are taking place in Italy this week and BBC Sport will be showing Sunday's action live from Val di Sole.

Coverage of the elite cross-country women's and men's events will be on iPlayer and the BBC Sport app and website.

There is a strong British contingent at this year's championships, which conclude with the infamous and highly technical "Black Snake" downhill track.

All eyes will be on in-form Charlie Aldridge, who is fresh from success in the European Championships earlier this month where he completed a double in the short-track and cross-country.

He claimed under-23 world gold in 2023 and will be vying for his first senior World Championship win in Italy.

Olympic gold medallist and 2023 world champion Tom Pidcock is a last-minute entrant after finishing ninth in this year's Tour de France.

Former under-23 world champion Evie Richards will be looking to improve on her fourth-placed finish at last month's European Championships.

However, she will have to contend against a strong field, including reigning world champion Jenny Rissveds, European champion Sina Frei and Martina Berta, who will be looking to win on home soil.
