  1. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 17:30 BST

    Gloucs 136 v Lancashire 232-8

Ollie Sutton drives Graeme van Buuren and they scamper through for two, with Matty Hurst having to race a little to make his ground.

That bring up a rapid fifty partnership off just 51 balls.

Really valuable runs from this ninth wicket pair and painful ones for the home side.

The lead is approaching three figures.

    Prest lbw b Ball 43 (Hants 114-1 v Somerset - lead by 64 runs)

Somerset make the breakthrough and it's Jake Ball with his very first ball into the attack!

  3. 50 runs

50 for Nick Gubbinspublished at 17:26 BST

Hants 109-0 v Somerset (lead by 59 runs)

50 for Nick Gubbins and what a timely innings it has been for Hampshire.

He times this absolutely perfectly on the back foot, dissecting the field to find a boundary through midwicket.

  4. 'Very calculated shot'published at 17:25 BST

That was a really good shot by Prest.

He was very calculated and beautifully executed to bring up the Hampshire 100.

  5. Postpublished at 17:23 BST

    Gloucs v Lancs 223-8 (lead by 87)

A handy ninth-wicket partnership is forming for Lancashire.

A textbook cover drive from Ollie Sutton sees him move onto 12 not out and Lancashire's lead rises to 87 runs.

  6. 100 runs

100 up for Hampshirepublished at 17:21 BST

Hants 103-0 v Somerset (lead by 53 runs)

100 up without loss for Hampshire who have dominated the first 28 overs of their second-innings.

They reach three figures in fine style too with Tom Prest reverse sweeping Archie Vaughan for four down at third man.

  7. Postpublished at 17:17 BST

Hants 92-0 v Somerset (lead by 42 runs)

Glorious use of the feet here by Nick Gubbins.

He comes down the track to meet Jack Leach and sends one over wide mid-on for a one-bounce four.

That means Leach goes around the wicket with his next ball and Gubbins dabs a single to move onto 40.

This is a real opportunity for Hampshire to extend their lead with some quick-fire runs in the final session of day two.

  8. Bad light stops play at Northamptonpublished at 17:16 BST

    Northants 229-4 v Middlesex 341

Disappointment all round as the umpires take the players off for bad light at Northampton.

We lost a fair chunk of the evening session yesterday to bad light and let's hope that isn't that for day two.

We still have 30 overs outstanding.

  9. 200 runs

200 up for Lancashirepublished at 17:14 BST

Gloucs v Lancs 201-8 (lead by 65 runs)

Ollie Sutton flashes a short, wide one down to third man to get off the mark and Lancashire have 200 on the board after 65.1 overs.

  10. Postpublished at 17:14 BST

    Northants 229-4 v Middlesex 341

A sudden burst of noise and encouragement in the Middlesex field for Naavya Sharma.

They sense the game is drifting a little here as Nathan McSweeney and James Sales are chipping big dents in their lead.

Sales plunders a 16th boundary of his innings to move to 78 and the partnership moves to an ominous 131, with McSweeney 13 shy of his ton.

  11. Postpublished at 17:11 BST

Hants 84-0 v Somerset (lead by 34 runs)

Change of bowling, we're going to see Archie Vaughan's off spin in the 26th over of Hampshire's second-innings.

Vaughan picked up two wickets for Somerset in the first-innings just yesterday.

  12. 'Big season for Prest'published at 17:06 BST

    Hants 238 & 82-0 v Somerset 288

    Simon Hughes
The Analyst on The Cricket Social

This is a big season for Tom Prest.

He's got the chance here to bat at three and he's obviously very talented but he's never quite delivered on his talent I don't think.

He's often flattered to deceive, just when he's looking good, he gets out.

  13. Postpublished at 17:06 BST

    Hants 81-0 v Somerset (lead by 31)

Too short, too wide by Somerset's Lewis Gregory and Tom Prest cuts the ball away comfortably to the third man boundary for four.

  14. Postpublished at 17:04 BST

Gloucs v Lancs 190-8 (lead by 54 runs)

Matty Hurst comes down the track to meet Matt Taylor and swats him away near cow corner for four runs.

Hurts then pulls the final delivery away for a single to keep the strike as Lancashire's lead goes up to 54 runs.

A statement from intent by the wicketkeeper-batsman (18 not out) who I think has decided enough is enough and he won't be hanging around playing for time - he believes Lancashire need the runs now despite there being almost 32 overs left still in the day.

  15. Postpublished at 16:59 BST

Hants 75-0 v Somerset (lead by 25 runs)

    Hampshire continue to look comfortable.

Nick Gubbins (33 not out) is looking assured, running well in between the wicket with Tom Prest (25 not out).

Somerset need a spark right now.

'Taylor beating heart for Gloucs'published at 16:58 BST

    Gloucs 136 v Lancs 180-8

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

    Well done Matt Taylor.

He's been the beating heart of this Gloucestershire performance with the ball through the course of the second day.

He's enjoyed that and rightly so, very nice ball.

  17. 100 runs

    100 partnershippublished at 16:55 BST

    Northants 198-4 v Middlesex 341

Nathan McSweeney punches Naavya Sharma down the ground for a lovely boundary to bring up the 100 partnership with James Sales for the fifth wicket.

They've really picked up the pace after tea as the landmark comes off 149 balls.

  18. wicket

    Coughlin lbw M Taylor 8 (Gloucs v Lancs 180-8 - lead by 44)

And with the very next ball - that is the end of Paul Coughlin.

    Matt Taylor has five-for!

After going for six, Taylor straightens up, and Coughlin misses a full one - this is plumb.

5-36 for Taylor in his 16th over, he has bowled beautifully today. Gloucestershire have enjoyed themselves since lunch in the Bristol sunshine.

  19. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 16:51 BST

    Gloucs v Lancs 180-7 (lead by 44)

Well, what's one way to do it.

Paul Coughlin goes for a huge mow over cow corner and the ball flies over the slip corner and goes for six - extraordinary.

Big patches of blue sky are beginning to appear over Edgbaston, but there's been a fair dousing of rain so we may be a little while yet before play.
