Dani Gibson gets one to nip back into Sophie Devine, who gets herself into a bit of tangle attempting to work it to leg on the back foot.

Given out on field. Devine reviews.

Is there some bat involved here?

There's just a difference, the control and the presence Sophie Devine has in the middle. It's key for New Zealand that one of these two batters are there in the last five overs.

To add to Katey Martin's point about attacking shots being an issue for New Zealand - 12 of their 14 dismissals so far in this T20I series have come with attacking shots.

Sophie Devine just backs her power. She hits on the up, she charges down the surface and says she's intentionally going to slog that over long-on.

  6. NZ 67-4published at 10 overs

Charlie Dean brings herself into the attack.

Sophie Devine skips down the pitch and hammers the England skipper over cow corner for six.

Devine then repeats the trick next ball as she mixes aggression, power and timing.

Considering where they were New Zealand recovered quite well.

I remember Sophie Devine in training, she'd do the hitting, you'd throw to her. Because if you could field to Sophie Devine you could field to anyone.

  8. NZ 54-4published at 9 overs

A costly over from Issy Wong as she's dispatched to the fence a couple of times.

Sophie Devine belts one dragged down by Wong over mid-off then later in the over Maddy Green deftly squeezes one through mid-wicket.

  9. NZ 40-4published at 8 overs

Left-arm seamer Freya Kemp is tossed the ball by Charlie Dean.

She drops it a little short on the hip of Maddy Green who whips it square, but is unable to find the rope.

Later in the over Sophie Devine thrashes at one from he England all-rounder and does not quite find the middle of the bat but it has enough height on it go over the head of Lauren Bell at mid-off.

New Zealand faced a lot of dot balls in the first match, now they're playing a lot of attacking shots. It's about finding a balance and assessing the conditions, the openers need to cope with the pressure of facing a couple of dot balls.

  11. NZ 35-4published at 7 overs

    Dani Gibson into the attack.

A wild swing from Maddy Green and the ball races past Amy Jones for four byes.

England still well on top here.

England will be delighted with that powerplay. I'll be interested to know if they put four fielders back straight away, or if they stick with three at first.

  13. NZ 29-4published at 6 overs

Issy Wong into the fray and the England quick is right on the money.

Maddy Green and Sophie Devine have a few big waft but are not quite able to connect cleanly and have to settle for four singles off the over.

England the happier at the end of the powerplay.

Linsey Smith's two wickets in the first over was the second instance she's had a double strike in a powerplay over in T20Is.

No English spinner has achieved this more often.

The only other English bowlers to have a double strike more often in a powerplay over are Anya Shrubsole (six instances), Katherine Sciver-Brunt (three instances) and Lauren Bell (three instances).

  15. NZ 25-4published at 5 overs

More aggression from Sophie Devine as she swats Lauren Bell for four through mid-wicket.

Penultimate ball of the over and Devine ducks out the way of a bouncer from Bell.

Lauren Bell really is a joy to watch. Intelligent bowler, a proper leader of this attack. Terrific use of the Canterbury slope there from the Nackington Road end!

Who was the biggest threat in the first game? It was Linsey Smith. Hit the ball on the ground, why are you trying to go over that fielder?
