Rachin Ravindra had a forgettable home series against England in 2024, scoring 129 runs at an average of 21.5 across six innings without a fifty-plus score. He started off this series with a couple of low scores again, but with two fifties in his last three innings, he now has close to 177 runs runs at an average of 35.

Jamie Smith, whose wicketkeeping has been the subject of criticism in our inbox today, comes up to the stumps mid-way through Jofra Archer's over.
Not sure he'd be the seamer I'd pick to try this out, but England are maybe trying a few things

Shoaib Bashir collects a return shot from Daryl Mitchell and throws wildly at the stumps.
The ball passes Jamie Smith and Harry Brook dives from slip to stop it running away for four byes.
Mitchell then tries to sweep and gloves the ball - it loops up and comes down just in front of Jofra Archer at short fine leg.
Speaking of Archer, he's going to replace Ben Stokes for a burst before the close.

The groundsman at Trent Bridge has prepared an excellent track for this Test Match. It's only now on day three it has begun to misbehave but still predictable enough for the batsmen to play their shots. A beautifully poised match, with all potential results still possible.

A good stop from Ben Duckett, getting down to his right to stop a Rachin Ravindra drive that seemed destined to reach the cover ropes.
Daryl Mitchell then offers an elaborate leave to Shoaib Bashir and sees the ball spin sharply, deflect off his arm and... fly just past the stumps.
A maiden for Ben Stokes, but four runs off the over as the England captain's fifth delivery clips the body of Daryl Mitchell and races past the leg slip to the boundary.
