Have your say on England women this summer

  1. New Zealand reviewpublished at 12:59 BST

Mair cuts one back into Capsey's pads and appeals. It's given not out, but Melie Kerr asks to go upstairs.

  2. Eng 55-2published at 12.4 overs

Alice Capsey climbs into a rare loose one, a full toss from Mair that is slapped high over midwicket for four.

  3. Eng 50-2published at 12.1 overs

As the rain falls, Heather Knight gets away with one, under-edging a Rosemary Mair wide delivery down and past her stumps to fine leg.

  4. Eng 50-2published at 12 overs

Alice Capsey strides out to the middle, and Jess Kerr returns to the attack to whip one past Heather Knight's outside edge.

There's rain the air, ground staff are moving into position and spectators are pulling up hoods.

At one down, England had the slight advantage on WinViz at the end of the powerplay but that wicket of Jodi Grewcock has seen quite a jump in favour of New Zealand.

It just felt like that's been coming all game. Grewcock's been prodding and it finally caught the edge. It was a great take from Izzy Gaze.

    Grewcock c Gaze b Mair 10 (Eng 47-2)

There's a bit more pace and bounce from Rosemary Mair, and Jodi Grewock's edge flies to the left of keeper Izzy Gaze - but she's equal to it, and pouches a fine take to end the opener's stop-start innings

  8. Eng 45-1published at 10 overs

Heather Knight pats a tame short one from Bree Illing past midwicket for two, and from the final ball of the over she hits her fourth boundary, effortlessly driving all the way along the ground through point.

There doesn't look to be as much movement as in the first few overs.

  9. Eng 39-1published at 9 overs

That's better for Jodi Grewcock, who guides a wide one from Mair past point for a much-needed boundary.

  10. Eng 34-1published at 8.4 overs

Rosemary Mair replaces the impressive Jess Kerr, sending down a wide off her second delivery and from her fourth there's a half-hearted appeal for a catch as Heather Knight essays a nudge off her pads.

Keeper Izzy Gaze is keen for a review, but Melie Kerr ignores her to keep a review in her pocket.

We've seen a lot of plays and misses from Grewcock. That's probably where New Zealand are probably feeling a bit unlucky, that they haven't been able to get another wicket.

  12. Eng 33-1published at 8 overs

Bree Illing's next over is a bit of a mixed bag - a couple of nurdled singles, some gentle short stuff, a wide and then a beauty past Jodi Grewcock's outside edge.

  13. Eng 30-1published at 7 overs

Moving a middle-order batter up to the top of the order is a tough ask, and Jodi Grewcock is struggling to get going but after a nice nudge of her pads, Heather Knight keeps the score ticking over with a lovely clip off her legs through midwicket for another boundary

Jess Kerr, the biggest swinger of the new ball in women’s ODIs, is capitalising on conditions in Cardiff today. In her opening spell at Durham, Kerr was getting 3.2º of movement into the right-hander. Today that is up to 3.8º.

  15. Eng 25-1published at 6 overs

Bree Illing's radar is off a touch, another leg side wide being followed by leg byes run for two.

But then she gets one right on the spot, forcing a static Jodi Grewcock into a prod outside off stump. The opener than pulls a short one straight to mid on, and off the final delivery edges nervously through the slips for a single to third.

Jess Kerr is bowling really well here, swinging the ball. Obviously Heather Knight looks so much more comfortable out there to Grewcock.

  17. Eng 21-1published at 5 overs

Patience pays off for Heather Knight, who, after blocking inswinger after inswinger, pounces onto a slightly wider delivery, crunching it to the rope past cover.

  18. Eng 17-1published at 4 overs

A leg side wide from Bree Illing is parried away by keeper Izzy Gaze, and England scamper though for two.

The wobble on the ball is clearly testing either side of the stumps in these dank conditions.

It's always been a really tough place to bat. The pitch is nothing every to write home about. There are a lot of complaints about the wicket.

  20. Eng 15-1published at 3.2 overs

Bree Illing, left-arm over the wicket, slides one past Heather Knight's outside edge but then the former captain drives confidently to the rope to move off the mark.
