  1. Aus 67-8published at 42 overs

Australia's total is swelled by four byes but there's no runs off the bat. Incidentally, Nathan Lyon's longest batting stint is the 190 minutes he spent at the crease in the first Test for his 27 runs. He's only ever batted more than two hours on one other occasion.

Despite the lack of scoring, this is properly enthralling Test-match cricket.

  3. Aus 63-8published at 41 overs

Pat Cummins' clear gameplan of farming the strike and turning down singles makes Cameron Green's brain fade look even worse. Drinks.

  4. Aus 63-8published at 40 overs

Thumbs up if you're only here to see Australia lose? We can see you.

Will England do any better against this South African team? Only time will tell, but it'd be quite the result if they did.

The crowd cheers sarcastically when Pat Cummins drives a single into the off side. That's got to sting.

The Aussies are then booed when Nathan Lyon turns down a single into the leg side. That's got to sting.

11 maidens in a row and then Green charges down the pitch, complete head loss.

South Africa need two wickets to win

Nathan Lyon emerges and almost immediately plays onto his stumps. Simon Harmer needs these last two wickets for 10 in the match.

And there we have it. The first mis-step from Cameron Green - he uses his feet against the spinner, who hangs it outside the off stump, and he's bowled through the gate. Maybe he should have blocked it...

There'll be people watching or listening to this who are being asked what it is about the sport they like. Literally nothing has happened in almost an hour yet it's still been fascinating.

Gerald Coetzee the bowler. Pat Cummins the batter. Maiden over.

I'd like to see Mulder into the attack. Throughout the series he has prised out wickets when the ball has got older. He'll be pumped after his ton yesterday and bowlers always bowl better when they've got runs!

    Freddie, Balham

  11. Aus 62-7published at 37 overs

Marco Jansen, who I once heard described as a 'cheat code' by a South African cricket journalist, is chucked the ball by his skipper and he angles one past Cameron Green's outside edge. That's as exciting as it gets though.

'Alexa, how else can I describe a maiden over?'

That's nine overs in a row now. Just two runs scored in the session - all from one shot.

Always amuses me when former Australian players so quickly 'turn' on the current side when the chips are down. David Warner in this case having his say. The Test isn't even over yet.

  15. Aus 62-7published at 35 overs

Kagiso Rabada tries a yorker to Cameron Green, who jabs his bat down just in time. When he pitches it up, Green shows the maker's name. It's quite the effort from the big all-rounder here. He's showing the fight David Warner reckons has been missing.

Including the wicketkeeper, there's seven men catching around the bat now. Australia are turning down singles. Who will blink first?

The chances of a draw are so remote they don't even register on the win predictor. It's 98% South Africa and 2% Australia to win at the moment.

  18. Warner labels Australia 'terrible', 'un-Australian' and 'utterly disgraceful'published at 11:39 GMT

David Warner has been giving his thoughts about this Australia performance over on Fox Sports. Now out of the team, he has not held back.

"It is terrible," he said. "It is un-Australian. There is no fight whatsoever.

"It is disgraceful. Yes, Matt Renshaw was burgled down the leg side. I think it is deplorable.

"The batters have let the bowlers down all series. Renshaw showed fight in that first Test but I think the batters have been utterly disgraceful."

England v India 2025 has to make the shortlist for best series of the last 10 years. Down to the wire and Woakes coming down The Oval steps, arm in a sling, to try to save the game will live long in the memory. In retrospect, Brook's ridiculous hoick was the beginning of the end for Bazball too.
