So mature from Alice Capsey - don't really remember a shot in anger, any out of control shot.

She will probably be batting three at the World Cup, she's opening like she has done in franchise cricket and she's really set a marker.

    Eng 90-3 | Target 137

Drilled down the ground for a single and that's fifty for Alice Capsey.

A lovely innings and she gets to her half-century from 43 balls. Stepping up to open tonight and she's doing a superb job for England.

Bree Illing continues... and Alice Capsey slaps her through the covers for four.

    Lovely shot. Dismissive.

  4. Eng 85-3published at 13 overs

    Target 137

Seven from the over, the required rate is up to 7.42... and it's raining.

This was not forecast so fingers crossed it blows over quickly.

  5. Eng 83-3published at 12.2 overs

    Target 137

Lovely sweep shot from Freya Kemp, getting down low to put Melie Kerr away behind square for four.

  6. Eng 78-3published at 12 overs

    Target 137

Excellent over from Bree Illing but England are still well placed, especially with Alice Capsey in and going well.

    She's up to 43 from 37 balls. England need 59 from 48.

It's nipped about half a foot, which is just about enough to miss leg stump.

    Missing leg stump.

Very well bowled by Bree Illing but it's just doing too much and Freya Kemp survives.

It's seamed. Freya Kemp has a slight shimmy across her stumps - umpire's call maybe?

  10. New Zealand reviewpublished at 11.4 overs

    Eng 76-3

Bree Illing thinks she's got two in two as she raps Freya Kemp on the back leg.

Big lbw appeal, it's turned down but Melie Kerr sends it upstairs.

Well bowled Bree Illing. That wide line, angled across Heather Knight. This is the opening New Zealand were looking for, if you can have a couple quiet overs you can put pressure on Freya Kemp then Dani Gibson.

Bree Illing makes a much-needed breakthrough for New Zealand.

Angled across the right-hander by the Kiwi left-arm seamer, Heather Knight goes after it but sends a thick outside edge looping to Rosemary Mair.

Simple catch at short third to end a very handy partnership of 43 for the third wicket.

England take six from the over and they're ticking over very comfortably at the moment.

There's nothing too extravagant but with the require rate at just 6.88 an over, there doesn't need to be.

There's a stifled appeal for lbw against Heather Knight to end the over but it was sliding down leg.

If Rosemary Mair was closer to the stumps she'd have been able to move across and take that.

  15. Eng 71-2published at 10.1 overs

    Target 137

England push for two from the first ball after drinks... and it's very tight!

Rosemary Mair collects the throw from the deep, underarms onto the stumps but Alice Capsey has just made her ground.

England are slightly behind where New Zealand were, but Heather Knight, England's most important player, is out in the middle.

No boundaries and a dot ball to end it but it's 10 from Sophie Devine's first over.

England in a strong position at the halfway stage as the drinks come on.

  19. Eng 62-2published at 9.1 overs

    Target 137

Clearly it's not the fastest outfield tonight because Heather Knight has glanced the ball just past short fine leg and it looks a certain boundary.

But instead the ball pulls up inches from the cushion and Alice Capsey comes through to run the third.

Danielle Gibson produced the perfect bail trimmer to see the back of Sophie Devine. England would be chasing much more if Devine had lasted a few overs longer.
