Four leg byes from Keith Barker's first ball off Simon Harmer.

The off spinner then strays down the legside and Keith Barker says thank you very much.

He helps it on its way and the ball whizzes along the carpet to the fine leg boundary.

    Thompson c Walter b Harmer (Warks 153-7) v Essex - lead by 138

    Seven down!

Jordan Thompson pushes forward outside off stump to Simon Harmer but gets a thickish edge.

It might have taken a slight deflection off the gloves of Michael Pepper on the way through to Paul Walter at slip for a simple catch.

The lead is 138 and this game is in a hurry.

  6. 'Should be an exciting finish'published at 17:21 BST

    Gloucs v Lancs (target 202)

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol commentator

    It's a strange-looking scorecard this isn't it?

There's not much bread and quite a lot of filling.

Some of the pace has gone out of the pitch and you can see it has changed colour but there's still movement off it.

Gloucestershire's 305 may be slightly above or around about the path of the wicket.

It feels as though Lancashire should get to 202 but it's the psychology as well of a fourth innings and the fact that Lancashire are more expected to win the game so it should be an exciting one.

    Warks 153-6 v Essex - lead by 138

Zaman Akhter runs in for his fifth over of the second innings.

A well-timed clip into the legside off his toes from Jordan Thompson brings four and takes Warwickshire past 150.

    Hants v Somerset 79-3 (target 287)

New man in, Tom Abell comes down the pitch to whip a Liam Dawson full-toss through mid-wicket for four.

20 overs left in the day at the Utilita Bowl - still a lot of cricket left on day three for both sides to make inroads.

You couldn't call this one at the moment

De Caires lbw b Procter 15 (Middlesex 34-1 - trail Northants by 34)

    Breakthrough!

Luke Procter is really steaming in for his side and pins Josh de Caires in front.

The Middlesex opener is hit on the knee roll of his front pad and the appeal is given. Perhaps a bit high, but his 52-ball vigil is done.

    Max Holden joins Sam Robson

  10. 'Did Malik have to play it?'published at 17:11 BST

    Warks 190 & 145-6 v Essex 205

    Adam Pinder-Smith
    Reporter, BBC Radio WM

Just seen the replay, did he [Malik] have to play it?

I'm not sure. He could've played that one straight down the ground but it's very easy for us to say up here.

It was quite a full ball, he didn't quite time it which is why it fell just short and he knows, it's why he looked at the bottom of his bat.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 305published at 17:10 BST

    Bell b Balderson 0 (Gloucs 305-10 v Lancs)

And that's the end of that.

George Balderson angles one in and Gabe Bell chops on to his own wicket for a duck.

Lancashire require 202 to win this one.

Balderson and James Anderson end on four wickets apiece.

We will be back out for the fourth-innings in less than 10 minutes.

    M Taylor c Anderson b Balderson 2 (Gloucs 305-9)

James Anderson turns from terrific bowler to excellent fielder! You can't keep him out of the game at the moment.

    Gloucestershire nine down now.

Matt Taylor chips over to deep mid-on where Anderson, rather nonchalantly takes a catch one-handed - extraordinary.

An excellent session after tea continues for Lancashire.

    Malik c Allison b Porter 21 (Warks 144-6 v Essex - lead by 129)

    And then a wicket!

Zen Malik will be annoyed by that as he falls into a carefully laid trap.

He tries to lift Jamie Porter over midwicket but is caught on the boundary rope by Charlie Allison.

    Jordan Thompson comes the crease.

Jimmy Anderson should have played in the last Ashes as I've already said and should be considered for the next series, better than any bowler that went in the last.

Lovely batting from Zen Malik as he steps down the wicket and pushes a Simon Harmer delivery to the long-off boundary.

A single brings Beau Webster to the striker's end and he guides a wide delivery through extra cover for four more.

It brings up the fifty partnership - the Bears' first of the match would you believe - and has come off 81 balls.

Whisper it, but the lead is growing nicely.

With ex Kent player Nathan Gilchrist in the wickets this morning for Warwickshire and Jack Leaning's ton for Sussex last week it strikes me there are players who fire for one county more than another. We have had Headley (Middlesex), Saggers (Durham) and Stevens (Leicestershire). Anyone else find that?

It looked like he was juggling a little bit there Codi Yusuf.

He was underneath it for a while, it looked like it went really high off the top edge from Tom Lammonby but Baker strikes again.

Again on the short ball, he got out Archie Vaughan in similar fashion, this time it went a little higher.

As soon as he struck it Tom Lammonby he knew he was in trouble.

    Middlesex 25-0 - trail Northants by 43

Northants skipper Luke Procter brings himself on to try and separate the Middlesex openers.

Sam Robson sneaks a single off the final ball of his second over - the first run he's conceded.

Ben Sanderson swaps ends and replaces Harry Conway.

The paceman gets a bit of extra pace and bounce out of the pitch which surprises Josh de Caires. It loops safe and they run a single.

Robson then crunches Sanderson off the backfoot for four to move into double digits.

The openers have done their job so far and negotiated the first 14 overs.

    Brookes c Hurst b Anderson 0 (Gloucs 297-8)

James Anderson is on a hat-trick here.

Henry Brookes looks to pull his bat out the way but accidentally inside edges the ball behind to Matty Hurst who makes a simple catch.

Will Williams sees out the hat-trick ball but Anderson has clawed Lancashire back into a good position in this past over.
