England have punished anything short today by the West Indian bowlers. They have now scored 31 runs off the pull shot at a strike-rate of above 250 - their most productive shot of the innings so far.

  2. 79-2published at 9 overs

After Alice Capsey whacks a first first ball, West Indies continue their tactic of challenging Danni Wyatt-Hodge outside the off stump - but she changes tactic by stepping across and peppering the leg side boundary instead.

She keeps the fielders busy and can't get through. A nice battle is building between the England opener and the spinners.

  3. Eng 69-2published at 8 overs

Good recovery from Matthews, just four singles from the rest of the over.

Alice Capsey gets a little lucky with a reverse sweep that lands just in front of the fielder at short third.

Despite my doubts earlier, the crowd has grown now and is pretty good given the situation.

  5. Eng 65-2published at 7.1 overs

Classic Danni Wyatt-Hodge, driving up and over cover for four.

Hayley Matthews has her hands on her head. It's a huge strength of the England opener's, but they seem to have identified it as a wicket opportunity as well.

  6. Eng 61-2published at 7 overs

Tidy start from Aaliyah Alleyne after the break, as Capsey and Wyatt-Hodge can only rotate singles with the field spread back.

England have now crossed 50 in three of the four powerplays in this tournament, with today's 57-2 being their best. Their dot-ball percentage of 37% in the powerplay is the best for any team in this tournament so far.

A nice flurry of runs for England to conclude the powerplay.

Wyatt-Hodge gets another streaky boundary, edging to deep third, before the players take a much-needed drinks' break.

They huddle under umbrellas on the sun-drenched Lord's outfield.

Oooh! Tough one, but would've been a cracker, and we've seen Deandra Dottin take these before.

Wyatt-Hodge drives aerially towards point, where Dottin leaps athletically but the ball just bursts through her hand.

This is going to be the real threat for England here today, Aaliyah Alleyne, she has really stepped up and I just think she is going to be hunting for the stumps.

  11. Eng 47-2published at 5 overs

Aaliyah Alleyne has been West Indies' best bowler of the tournament so far, with eight wickets.

She starts nicely, including a nip-backer that Danni Wyatt-Hodge just about manages to fend away from the stumps, before Alice Capsey crunches a short ball for her first boundary.

Sophia Dunkley has been much better at reverse-sweeping spinners in T20s in the last couple of years. Since 2024, she has scored 52 runs with reverse sweeps without being dismissed even once at a strike-rate of 193. With the conventional sweep, though, she has been dismissed six times for 100 runs at an average of just above 16.

  13. Eng 41-2published at 4 overs

Alice Capsey is in at four.

She was in such good form before the tournament, and made 40 in the previous game against Scotland.

I was just talking up about how well Dunkley was playing!

But that was really well bowled. It was high pressure for Munisar, having to maintain the game after Chinelle Henry gave away so many runs.

    What a response!

Sophia Dunkley throws away a promising start. She goes for a conventional sweep this time, but it's too full and she's trapped in front.

The England batters discuss a review but it would've been futile - that was crashing into middle stump.

  16. Eng 38-1published at 3.2 overs

Matthews turns to Ashmini Munisar to try and regain some control.

Her second ball is reverse swept for four by Dunkley. That's not what the captain ordered.

This is a bit of a shocker for West Indies. if you really want to get into the game, yes take the wicket but they really need to back it up.

  18. Eng 34-1published at 3 overs

    Eeek, that was a shocker.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge carves another wide ball for four, before she drives sweetly through the covers for three after a brilliant diving effort from Jahzara Claxton on the boundary.

17 off the over and Hayley Matthews has plenty to think about.

  19. Eng 26-1published at 2.3 overs

This is turning into a honking over.

Three wides follow the opening boundary.

  20. Eng 21-1published at 2.1 overs

I'm not sure this would've been the game plan when West Indies chose to bowl first.

Again, Chinelle Henry bangs the ball in short but the pace is nowhere near threatening enough and Danni Wyatt-Hodge hammers it to the ropes.
