  2. 'It's a huge day for Irish cricket'published at 17:59 BST

    Ireland win by 134 runs

Ireland bowling coach Ryan Eagleson: "I think the debutants where outstanding. Jai Moondra was outstanding. He ran in and bowled quick and was clocked at 87-88mph. He has that left-arm option which is always nice.

The smartness that they bowled with was very pleasing. The pace that they bowled with was very impressive and the fact that they did it with a smile on their face was brilliant to see. To do that in their first game against the world champions is incredible.

The bowling unit as a whole where brilliant. Our fielding was very impressive and we saved lots of runs in the field. We did the basics very well. The seamers did a brilliant job.

It's a huge day for Irish cricket. We have beaten the world T20 champions in our back yard at Stormont and credit to everyone at Stormont for the condition and standard of the pitch and for the set up created."

Lorcan Tucker came in and batted sensibly and he got his 50 and anchored the innings. India got bowled out in the 19th over which doesn't happen often.

Ireland played smarter cricket for most of the day and they where better in the field and deservedly won the match.

    Ireland win by 34 runs

Matt Hollard speaking on TNT Sports: "I never expected this, to have a debut against India it's a dream come true and I couldn't ask for anything better. My family have come out from Johannesburg to support me.

"I've been wanting to come over to Ireland since 2019 but then Covid happened and there were a lot of setbacks. My brother came first and said I had to come so I did and Cricket Ireland have been unbelievable with me."

    Ed Joyce
Former Ireland women's coach on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra 3

I wasn't expecting this! A truly incredible performance. Putting in a performance like this was fantastic for a side that don't get to many tournaments. The debutants came in and did a brilliant job.

India will have been disappointed to let Ireland get up to 180 and at times they were sloppy in the field.

My overwhelming thoughts are surprise and I'm delighted for everyone in the Ireland changing room.
