South Yorkshire schools make the news

Schools across South Yorkshire took part in the BBC's School report project on Thursday 26th March.

Across South Yorkshire seven schools took part in School report this year.

Sheffield Springs Academy took part in the project for the second year running.

The 18 students created a created a radio news bulletin which was published on the school website.

They covered stories such as the discussion about scrapping SATS, Gordon Brown's visit to Brazil, the proposal to make school dinners more healthy and the success of the school football team reaching a cup final.

The students have been learning all about creating news in clubs after school.

Once the students had recorded their news bulletin four of them Jamie, Lee and Lauren had the opportunity to visit BBC Radio Sheffield and be interview on Howard Pressman's programme about what they had been doing.

They also watched a sports bulletin being broadcast by Seth Bennett.
