Margaret of Beverley was a pilgrim who was swept into the Third Crusade. She fought on Jerusalem’s battlements, endured capture and slavery, escaped multiple times, and lived to tell the tale. Historian Marcus Ramshaw tells us her story. Produced and edited by Gill Sennett. Picture credit: "The Siege and Destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans Under the Command of Titus, A.D. 70" by the Scottish painter David Roberts, completed in 1849/1850.
