In the China Factfile section we're going to give anecdotal support to many of the issues we look at with some vox-pops from Chinese people living, studying and working in China, and abroad, today. We'll also be providing other supporting evidence like statistics and survey results as well as bringing it all to life with images, links, audio and comparisons between life in China and elsewhere in the world.
This week, one of the things I've been doing is getting together two lists.
List One - a wish list of contributors - the people we would like to get opinions and quotes from about life in modern day China.
List Two - a list of people who might be able to put me in contact with contributors.
Here's where I've got to so far with the first list...
List One - contributor wish list.
A construction worker, plus a wealthy new house owner. Some teachers and their students. People working in tourism and perhaps some Chinese tourists, at home and abroad. A young Chinese entrepreneur and their employees. A graduate student working abroad but based in China. A member of a environmental group. People who have recently used the healthcare system in China.
Whenever my contacts pass on a possible contributor's details, I'll write a short tailored interview and Xiao, our translator will translate it into Mandarin, if necessary. I'm also going to ask Xiao to help me write a short message introducing myself politely and explaining what it is I want from the contributors. As well as the answers, I'm going to ask each contributor for a photo and some background details.
I'm really looking forward to 'meeting' the contributors and getting their answers as I think it will prove to be really interesting!

Anecdotal support tells a story from just one, or a few individuals point of view. It shouldn't be relied on too heavily to make a point.
The opinions of ordinary members of the public when asked to reply to interview questions at quite short notice.
