Radio 4 on Long Wave (LW) services will be closing later this year, but you can still enjoy your favourite stations in several easy ways. This factsheet explains how to continue listening to Radio 4.

1. Retuning Your Radio to FM

  • Switch your radio from LW to FM if there is an option.  Once on FM try re-scanning.  If the scan doesn’t find the station you want, you can manually tune by turning the tuning dial or using the + / – buttons to move to a specific frequency.
  • FM radios have a Scan or AutoTune button. Pressing it will search for all available stations and store them automatically.

Finding and Listening to Radio 4 on your DAB Radio

  • Look for the Radio 4 station and select it.
  • Alternatively, you may have to Scan, AutoTune or Update Stations (which searches for all the frequencies that you can then save)Once the scan has completed, select Radio 4 and save.

Car Radios

  • You can find Radio 4 on FM or DAB on your car radio.  It may previously have been tuned in and you can just select the station.

Radio on TV

  • You can listen to all BBC network radio stations (e.g., BBC Radio 4) on your television via Freeview, Satellite and Cable.
  • Simply select the channel number for Radio 4, for example on Freeview it is Channel 704.

BBC Sounds Website

  • Access BBC Sounds through your computer, smartphone, or tablet web browser and select Radio 4.

Smart Speakers
