The Others
This must be the worst film ever, that was 2 hours out of my life that I will never gain back!! Only in the last 5 minutes was it any good.
Monty
Casino Royale!!!Rotten.I hated the way it was made into a love story instead of true action for which 007 is known. It was dragged a bit too long as well.
coldplayer
The most overhyped load of tosh ever........ Pearl Harbour!! Hours and hours of tedium. Ben Afleck should hang his head in shame. The least hyped and the one i love the most....... Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Complete and utter genius. (as most of the Cohen films are!)
Regular Gav
I'm must be missing some kind of injoke in confusing 28 Days Later with The Day After tomorrow. 28 Days later was the horror film in an empty London. The Day After tomorrow was the one with the ice age! Now having cleared that up I agree both films were over rated.
Zoe
Vanilla Sky is an awesome film, absolutely love it. Pulp Fiction and Trainspotting have to be up there too for me along with The Matrix, actually there are loads! Worst film? Closer has to be one of them, what a load of rubbish, totally pointless
Paul Boland
The Royal Tenenbaums was suppose to be really funny, didn't laugh once. I think it's just Wes Anderson movies in general that are just pretentious nonsense.
Richard Tinker
Superman Returns! I just did not get that film. Not enough action and a ridiculous story line. Not even the presence of the legend that is Kevin Spacey could save this one for me.
Dim problem
Overrated - American beauty (How did it win oscars?) Little known gems - Salvador & something wild
Kat
I always find the best films are the less commercial ones eg Napoleon Dymanite, hilarious. Saw Shooting Dogs recently, didn't get the attention of Hotel Rwanda but very well told true story. Worst film Team America; World Police truely dreadful film nearly walked out. Also Forrest Gump what a waste of my life!
Samantha
I have a tie for worst film ever between the complete tripe that was the Nicholas Cage remake of The Wicker Man although I felt slightly better hearing him scream as he went up in flames! Also Eyes Wide Shut; I wanted to reach for the bottle of bleach on this one and it's the only film I have ever walked out of at the cinema...I felt like asking for my money back!
Stacey
i got really excited about watching the break up, the adverts made it look really good (yes i know thats what there there for but still) i was very dissapointed after watching it, it was ok but frankly the only good bits were the parts i had already watched in the commercials!?
Ravvie
I thought Underworld (2003) was brilliant, a very good and entertaining vampire/werewolf film. Why the critics didn't like it is beyond me- I guess they prefer their artsy, over the top, pretentious movies to a movie that doesn't try to be anything, except be entertaining!
Becky
Johnny English or Bean: Rowan Atkinson is hilarious but, seriously, what were you thinking?? Terrible, terrible, mind-numbly dull films - there's no excuse!
Martyn
Drop Dead Fred- Not many people have seen this and they should, a lot of people ahve degraded it a lot and thinks it childish, its just for big Kids
Lianne
How on earth can you say Hot Fuzz was boring?! I loved it! Like Shaun of The Dead, the guys completely succeed in making one the best cross genre films EVER, whilst in-referencing and nodding to films they aspire to. What's not worthy about that?! (Plus the fact that the script is hil-bloomin'-arious)
Alan
Human Traffic - Such a decent film, definately underrated. Most overrated - Being John Malkovic - What was that all about?
Gordon
Deep Rising is a cracking movie! It's the one about the giant octopus monster that attacks a huge ocean liner on it's maiden voyage. Carnivorous tentacled carnage ensues! It's made by the same guy that did the Mummy movies, and starred the gorgeous Famke Janssen. She was also in another top movie, called Rounders, which substituted Matt Damon in the role of the squid.
Freya
Sahara is one of the funniest and entertaining action films I have seen in ages. It is really different from other action films that follow the same premise and the locations are amazing! Hte critics said it was 'alright' but it is really amazing! Plus, lets not forget Matthew McConaughy!
Rich
Soldier - the Kurt Russell Sci-Fi action classic from the 90s. A beautiful metaphor which uses the conflict between the poor settlers and the genetically enhanced super soldiers to comment on Freuds treatise on the competing ID and EGO. Plus, someone gets their eye poked out within the first ten minutes.
Joe Leavy
Click! Got one star on the BBC review page and me and my flatmates loved it. I'd go as far as to say it was a life changer, i came out the cinema a better person. Seriously good film!
Ben
The Blues Brothers - simply the best film ever Dan Akroyd and John Belushi were brilliant and talking of Dan Akroyd - how about Spies like us?
Geoff
28 Days Later was way over-rated. The shots with the frozen Statue of Liberty were pretty cool (no pun intended), but seriously; an Ice-Age developing from nowhere within a week- who could believe that?!
Melissa Kehoe
Field Of Dreams!!! I know the Americans love it, but seriously, the concept is utterly ridiculous and i have absolutely no empathy with Kevin Costner's character in this film. Absolute waste of time
Lynz
I actually hate writing this coz i think Adam Sandler is the funniest man alive but what the heck was Punch Drunk Love all about, horrible!!! but anyway I think ALL his other films are wildly under-rated!! Happy Gilmore, hilarious!!
Kirsty
Dumb and Dumber-its definately the most ridicoulsly hilarious film ever.Sooo incredibly stupid that I nearly fell off my seat with laughter-anyone who loves feel good yet genius material then watch this film before the shops stop selling it!!underrated and thats a huge shame. More modern 'comedies' should follow its example.
Simon
I think the Star Trek trilogy of Star Trek 2, 3 & 4 is always underated. A brillant series of films full of action, humour and good story telling. Its always overlooked in favour of the overated original Star Wars trilogy.
Paul From Derry
Snatch, one of the best films ever!!! Brad Pitt has been the first American to do a believeable Irish accent, great fight scenes. Genius.
jonny O'Reardon
Nice one vern for choosing Anchorman! Got to be one of the funniest films of all time. The more I watch it the funnyer I find it. Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I've just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you, to stop what you're doing and listen... ...CAAANNONBALL.

Little Miss Sunshine was the best surprise I have ever experienced in a cinema in my life. We went to see it based on a review read in the paper, which is something we never normaly do. We laughed the whole way through, there were even points where I couldn't breath because I was still laughing at the previous joke when the next one came along. The most brillant observation comedy based on family life mixed with wacky 'I'm glad my family are not like this' comedy.
Tina
The Butterfly effect deserves a mention - didn't get massive reviews, and whilst watching it i wasn't sure whether i enjoyed it, but you will never forget the story line. Very thought provoking in a Sliding Doors style.
Terry
1984.........the most depressing movie in the history of movies....was seriously reaching for a drink of bleach when watching it!
Natalie
Karly , I totally agree. Lost in Translation had absolutly no story line and i was left completly confused as to why every1 thought this was a remotely good film!
Raa
I cant believe no one has mentioned the cable guy as being one of the most under-rated comedy films ever! This is hilarious, dark and original... its one of carrey's best roles..
Wendy
I loved Inside I'm dancing, we got to watch a preview and we were not told what the film was until we got in there, it was something I would usually have avoided and I think this is what made it so great because it was totally different to everything that was around at the time, great story without being too emotional, a real make you laugh make you cry with brilliant acting. Worst films are all of fast and the furious films and miami vice - total rubbish, slow and badly acted.
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Copola should have been shot for this overhyped pile of tosh. We laughed out loud in the cinema. What was he thinking. Dracula? Joke-ula more like.
Paul
A kights tale is a fantastic film with real comedy and real drama, it has to be seen even though it didnt make blockbuster millions!
Jamy
I thought Vanilla sky was fantastic, even though it was a re-make. The story was deep and it also had one hell of a soundtrack. Though I do agree it is a love it or hate it film.
Steve
Apocalypto - What a completely boring and awful film. They built it up as this huge chase through the jungle when actually that only happens in the last half hour and the rest is "building up the characters". And as for gore, I've seen more in a disney film! Utterly pathetic. Mel Gibson should have stopped after Lethal Weapon!
Nick
Anchorman, one of the funniest films ever created! Lets not forget however, the quality of zoolander... "what is this, a school for ants!"
Shelly
I cannot BELEEEVE no one's mentioned Anchorman yet! The best comedy of our time. I can't stress it enough!!! End of rant...
Caz
BRING ON THE GOONIES - HEY YOU GUYS!!!! BEST KIDS FILM EVER MADE.
Jaime
Snakes on a Plane! Oh my word, has to be one of the best films I've seen in years. I'll admit, I'm still not entire sure what it was meant to be... action or comedy. Jackson gave it credibillity but it has to be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen and it had me on the edge of seat. Excellent!
Nic
Epic Movie is absolute rubbish, so boring! Accidentally missed the start time for Music and Lyrics so ended up watching this-big mistake!
Nat
Airplane! The B-E-S-T film ever with some ace lines from it! Who can forget "assume the crash landing positions"? Nothing comes close!
Bernadette
Closer - a thoroughly nothing film - what was the fuss about?
Cat
Adaptation- worst film ever!!! so boring i almost walked out- wasted several hours of my life which i will never get back watching a very dull Nicholas Cage- DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!
abi
King kong utterly tooooooo long - 1st hour useless crap unbelievable after the rave results it got. were my m8s and i watching a diff film?
Tom
Titanic...World Class Film! ..Acting Great...Great effects.Kate Winslet Body! Best Everrr
Uphallman
Smokin' Aces - Dull, over the top Tarentino wanna be. And what was that ending about? Yes, we'd guessed who the baddie was going to be (as soon as the flash back footage started). But the buddy/buddy cop thing - sooooo over the top. Complete waste of time and money. If only they'd pulled the plug ten minutes in! Oh, and I think 'Super Gav' actually meant '28 days later', rather than 'The Day After Tomorrow', but the fact that he forgot the name proves how bad he thought it was!
Laura
Water World is hugely under rated. It has a great story, loads of action and the directors cut is a film to be enjoyed. Its up there with Independance Day & Abyss for me. Top film!
Richard Clarke
I think Miami Vice which was released last year was the worst film i have possibly seen. it was majorly over rated. the best thing about it was the soundtrack, and the script writers only decided to use their decent material in the last 5 mins of the film! awful film, shame it was so bad.
Pete
Hot Fuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz BORING, lets all jump on the english film band wagon. i'd rather watch cricket.
Karly Beasley
Lost in translation is sooo over rated. Granted the cinematography was excellent but that didn't make up for the complete lack of story!
Calum
I went and saw Stagecoach on the 'big screen' as part of the Glasgow Film Festival at the weekend for the first time. Absolutley fantastic. Superb narrative structure, and John Wayne as Ringo Kid was great - a definite must see for non-western fans.
Zoe
I absolutely hate Jurassic Park! The dinosaurs look fake but the thing that bugs me the most about it, is the acting. Appaling. I hate this film so much, that it is my top worst film ever - along with godzilla for the same reason! Both make me angry for simply existing!
Gordon
Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous is awesome. Everyone's dodging bullets these days, but Remo was doing it twenty years ago. He can actually hear the tendons tightening in your trigger finger! He's the sheik. Safe.
Mrs Spielberg
Saving Private Ryan - Yes the first 10-15 mins are great. However, the rest of the film is a meandering mess that only succeeds if the point is that war is very very dull, and, of course, was won by America. Also, how does Ed Burns get cast in anything?
Andy
Happy feet, quite frankly my feet were far from Happy. Very very over rated and it is the first time I've ever walked out of the cinema as it just got too cringe worthy and pathetic.
Ben
I never got Donnie Darko, It has some amazing acting ang laughs, but the plot is only vaguly engaging the third time around and the ending made almost no sense and lacked an emotional punch which it needed.
Joe Hawtorn
When i read the review for the movie:Tenacious D the Pick Of Destiny it gave it 2 satrs i went to my local cinemar to check it out and it was one of the best movies ive seen.It was so underatted beacuse it was from a rock band. What did you guys think??
Scubadog
The Crucible - Erm, not meant to be a comedy I am sure. Bad acting coupled with the fact that every female seemed to be called "Goody" something or other had me giggling early on but such was the tedium of the whole film that the cinema was baying for Daniel Day Lewis' character to be hung - and he was the goody in this one. A hated cinema moment.
Chris
The Horse Whiperer - Aaaargh. Long, long, long and very boring film. When I came out of the cinema I thought I had ridden across Montana my backside was so numb.
Chris Allan
Gangs of new York - was this supposed to be a comedy. Leonardo was so badly cast as a hard man (he made up for it in Blood Diamond. Daniel Day Lewis was just laughable in his stripey pants - he looked like a circus act and overacted more than the kids at the local nativity. The story was stretched beyond belief and then Scorsese threw in the racism argument in the last 10 mins just for a bit of social awareness. A farce of a movie. The publicity machine worked overtime to sell this overblown mess of a movie. It irritated the pants off me!
Chris
I dont know if im able to correct people on this, but i think Super Gav is talking about 28 days later. I also love Battlefield Earth which was widely panned by the critics. I think John Travoltas character is great.
Hugh
Final Cut: Rather funny and cringe worthy for all the right reasons, despite the panning it got from the press.
Alan
I think 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated film of all time. I saw it on the 'big screen' at a special screening a few years ago and I have never nodded off so many times in my life (and I sat through 4 years of Accountancy at Uni!) I have never read a bad review of this but beyond me how!
Rick Emberson
About Schmidt with Jack Nicolson. Simply the most pointless film ever made. Started badly and never ever got any better. Watched it all because I thought it had to get better at some point - it never did!
Chris
The Perfect Storm... why was it a hit? I spent 90 minutes wishing each character a swifter death to end the trash they were spouting as dialogue. 90 minutes and £6 of my life I want back!
Super Gav
The Day After Tomorrow - ERM HELLO! everyone rants and raves about this mediocre horror. The empty london scenes ARE fantastic, but apart from that a fairly average film, boring at times too.
John
Solaris - the one with George Clooney. I actually really enjoyed this film but the critics hated it. It had a great atmosphere and was very creepy.
Julie
Face Off! I love this film. I don't think it was given much credit cos it's a bit of a silly action movie, but it's soooo good. The Rock is the same. Big dumb action excitement!
Dude!
I didn't really get The Big Lebowski. Dude this and dude that. Quite juvenile and pointless.
Tommy
I thought The English Patient was absolutely awful. Totally boring with horrible unlikeable characters. I can't understand why it won so many Oscars - no competition around that year maybe?
