Sao Paulo Carnival
In the Studio takes us into the minds and processes of leading and emerging figures from across the creative world.
Presenter Tom Raine puts on his dancing shoes and joins the the Águia de Ouro samba school as they take part in the Sao Paulo carnival. There's a competitive element to these celebrations, which have their own league system, where teams can be relegated and promoted. Think of it like a football league, but for dancing. With the added attraction of colourful costumes and floats.
Their HQ is located on a road known colloquially as the city of samba, a place where multiple samba schools have their quadras (big warehouses where they practise and build the floats), located just a stones throw from the Anhembi Sambadrome where the schools perform during carnival.
