South African epidemiologist wins award for 'standing up for science'

South Africa's Salim Abdool Karim and US Antony Fauci co-awarded 2020 John Maddox prize for 'standing up for science'.

Professor Salim Abdool Karim has jointly received the prestigious 2020 John Maddox Prize for "Standing up for Science". He tells Focus on Africa about the difficulties with providing scientific advice during the COVID-19 pandemic and in fighting the rise of conspiracy theories around Coronavirus.
