Fears of deaths after Bobi Wine’s arrest

Ugandan Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi was arrested on his campaign trail.

Reports from local media indicate a number of people have been killed and others injured during widespread protests in Kampala and other urban areas outside the capital following the arrest of Ugandan Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine.

The US says it is concerned by what it calls "blatant attempt to cause regional instability" by local forces in Ethiopia's Tigray region after they launched rocket attacks last weekend against neighbouring Eritrea.

The Democratic Republic of Congo says it is now Ebola-free after more than 40 days without a case.
